Herald Economics Editor Worships at Climate Change Altar

NZ Herald “journalist” Brian Fellow wrote an article on the Cancun Climate change talks the other day. He kicked it off with this sentence- How impressed you are by the outcome of the Cancun climate conference depends on what you compare it with: where we were a year ago, or where we need to be.

He then goes on in a sour mood blaming the US and stamping his foot because the outcomes of the conference do not have enough solid impact. Here we have a chief reporter at one of the most influential (why I don’t know) newspapers in the country and he’s up to his neck proselyting for the religion of climate change. He’s forgotten the first rule he ever learned as a journalist- be skeptical about everything.

Fox News Washington Bureau Chief Bill Sammon recently made this statement- “Given the controversy over the veracity of climate change data, we should refrain from asserting that the planet has warmed (or cooled) in any given period without IMMEDIATELY pointing out that such theories are based upon data that critics have called into question. It is not our place as journalists to assert such notions as facts, especially as this debate intensifies.”

I reckon he’s right. Shouldn’t it be the responsibility of journalists to insure independent reporting about government, politicians, and public policy issues? Brian Fellow is a light year past this point.

The NZ Herald and its journalists are a disgrace. They do not even pretend to do their job according to the most basic rules of their profession, and as such are a despicable stain on NZ’s democracy.

You can read a full report on what Bill Sammon said at The Washington Examiner.

Brian Fellow’s article is here.

Thanks for the tip KG.
