In Canada this time, where a Christian TV station which until not long ago broadcast live, is now having to submit pre-screenings of its show to the Canadian Broadcasting Standards Council before it is permitted to put them to air. They will not be put to air if the Council finds the shows “offensive”, or they will be censored to comply with the edicts of the council if parts of the show are “offensive”. Here’s how this came about-
“We spoke against a new proposed sex education curriculum that would teach gender identity, six genders, and sexual orientation to our children,” explains Dr. Charles McVety, president of Canada Christian College and host of the show. “And I believe that this curriculum was for the purpose of teaching our children to be homosexuals.”
Dr. Charles McVety also spoke out about a $400,000 federal grant for a homosexual pride parade, which the government ultimately withdrew because of nudity and other illegal behavior. The CBSC convicted McVety without a hearing, ruling that he had breached the code of ethics. And in reference to his parade comments, the Council decided that the host used the term “sex parade” in a derogatory way.
“The criminal code says that this is an offense. Frankly, its the people [in the parade] who should be prosecuted. But somehow, I am the one prosecuted for speaking against this,” he laments. McVety is not allowed to appeal the ruling, and has been told if he commits three more “offenses,” he will be permanently taken off the air.
Now I don’t know this guy. He sounds reasonable in this instance. I really don’t know if he’s a nut, and I’ve got no reason to think he may be. That of course is not really the point. How much stuff has been broadcast over recent decades that has been extremely offensive to Christians? Or even non-Christians? And what has been the refrain of the liberals when complaints were raised? I’ll tell you– [Whiney voice on] Why don’t you just change the channel? [Whiney voice off]
The double standards are so appalling that once again I’m gobsmacked that these kind of events get traction. Here we have massive control and censorship of what is being broadcast, in the manner of a Stalinist kangaroo courts again, and the population remains silent? The same population that once cried out for the right to watch anything they wanted on television. Once again I have to ask, how the hell did we get here and how long are we going to tolerate this insane state of affairs? We are free men in free countries and we are standing meekly tolerant of these outrageous injustices.
It–just–cannot–be–permitted–to–go–on.

It really doesn’t matter if this guy is a nut or not. He should have a right to be a nut, and then let the chips fall where they may. But no, that’s not good enough when the power-mad are seeking ever more power. Whatever cover will be used — or none if they can get away with it — is used to intimidate others. This will be used to intimidate others into double-thinking themselves into behaving like sheeple, awaiting their owners’ approval or shearing or slaughter.
Dilemma? No Choice ties three stories together in an effort to show how fear of authority is deliberately on the rise in reacting to events where individuals would have been left alone and even praised.
Unless stronger men come to the defense of individual, even the strong will eventually be picked off one at at time. The authoritarians, by observing how they get away stealing this man’s rights, will go on to steal more. So I fully agree with your final words: “It–just–cannot–be–permitted–to–go–on.” The authorities are prodding us to rebel in the manner of their Leftist thugs. I pray we are more clever than that.

…is deliberately on the rise. It’s all about how now there are way more martinets; i.e., the authorities are overreacting to events where, in the past, individuals would have been left alone or even praised.

@Pascal, the only way to effectively and morally combat suppression is to exercise our natural rights, and if prosecuted for doing so, much as much noise as possible to draw attention to the fact and convince others what we say is right…

“We are free men in free countries”
We are not. We are, however (as Erich Honecker said of his East German people) ‘free to do anything that is not expressly forbidden.’
And what’s more, we have reached the stage where something does’nt even have to be expressly forbidden–the mere disapproval or dislike of some apparatchick is now sufficient to trample our rights underfoot.
Insurrection or slavery–the choice is now that stark.

The main reason I believe Christians and Christian organisations, like the one above, are often the first in the line of fire is because they actually have an authority base to draw on for their reasoning – ie the Bible, and thousands of years where people have also drawn on the Bible for their authority on issues surrounding morality and values.
Becasue the Marxist Left have systematically done away with absolute morality and values we now live in a world where it comes down to someone’s ‘opinion’ – usually some “expert” – moral relativism rules the day.
How often when debating the rights and wrongs of … well, pretty much anything are we confronted with some secular humanist pushing their barrow, or else someone citing some secular humanist ‘expert’?
In a world where there is no EXTERNAL source of absolute authority; a world where man alone makes up the rules as he goes along, there can be NO absolute standard of morality and values. And in the end anything can be justified as “normal” and therefore “acceptable”.
Those that challenge what has been deemed normal/acceptable are the ones who WILL NOT be tolerated. In fact the ONLY “sin” one can be accused of today is that of being INTOLERANT – intolerant of the choices and ‘lifestyles’ others or larger society have deemed as “normal”.
Society, and indeed life itself, is meaningless without a Judeo-Christian foundation and the God who gives such a foundation any meaning. But the Marxist ‘elite’ don’t want some external authority to whom they must give account, and therefore God and those who follow Him must be the first to be sacrificed, or at least marginalised, prior to the ushering in of the Marxist version of utopia.
Ahh, but that’s ‘progress’ I guess …
