Just Who The Hell Is Jamie-Lee Ross? Sarah Harvey Can’t Tell Me

I railed here about Maggie Barry being a possible Nat candidate for the Botany election. My problem was that we had no idea what she stood for. She failed, but we still don’t know the answer to who Maggie is as a politician. She’s joined Nick Smith’s Blue Greens so that makes her a complete loser in my book. I despise NINOS and that is what the Blue Greens are. (Nationals in name only)

I was lead today to a NZ Herald article on Jamie-Lee Ross, another National Party politician I know little about. Curious, I clicked on the link and started to read the article by Sarah Harvey. I shouldn’t have been disappointed for I know what the Herald is, but really, does it have to get this bad?? FFS Sarah- the guy is a POLITICIAN, not a damn rock star. Do you even know the difference? The set of questions you asked may have been suitable to ask Justin Berber and publish in Woman’s Day or New Idea or some other such vacuous collection of newsprint designed to sell sets of cooking pots, but what I wanted to know was who was Mr. Ross as a frigging politician. That after all is what he frigging is girl.

I don’t give a damn about where he grew up and what his hobbies are. I want to know where he stands on the issues of the day. What’s his view on the scam of global warming? What solutions does he see for NZ’s crushing debt burden? Does he want taxes lowered or raised? Where does he stand on social issues like smacking, abortion, legalized prostitution? What are his views on the Maori Party, the Seabed and Foreshore act and the Treaty of Waitangi? Who are his political heroes? Does he have any doubts about John Key’s policy of putting popularity before leadership? Does he prefer Barak Obama or the Tea Party? See, I’m not even a journalist but goddamn, it ain’t that hard.

Maybe it just that the Herald thought we needed a backgrounder on Mr. Lee. Well fine, but I hope we get a real picture of the man as a politician some time in the future. The political dialogue is abysmal in New Zealand, and the mainstream media are mostly to blame for this appallingly low standard because all they will apparently employ are piffling brain dead progressives.

Why am I ranting? I should know better. The Herald won’t change. I’ll just go back to reading blogs, and wait for that pathetic combination of bird cage liner and fish wrapper to go broke. Like all the other left wing media outlets are going broke. Too damn stupid to even know what ails them.

Sarah’s article.

Red, that’s a very good post spoiled by a couple of gratuitously stupid comments.

I suggest you write to Mr Ross with your questions. Leave out the snide smart arse side swipes at the National Party and you might get some answers that lead to an even more excellent post. This young man’s performance as a thorn in the side of the ignorant left at Manukau City augers well for his political future.

Don’t know much about Ross but the fact he’s Maori seems to drive the Left crazy…

Adolf, is there any criticism of the National Party you’d consider justified, or does Key have to microwave babies before you draw the line?

heh. From the book of Adolf. Verse 1, Chapter 1:

“And lo it is written: that the Great One is infallible, and can no wrong do. And any foul words or mild criticism shall immediately bring forth much wailing, and gnashing of teeth. And there shall be only cheers throughout all the land. For the Great One shall smile, and shall wave.”

But just wait until the second term, eh Adolf? Then we’ll see him show his true right-wing colours, won’t we?

I have met Jami-Lee a couple of times.
The impression I get is that he is on the right of National.
He’s a mate of Whale Oil’s too and Cameron doesn’t like pinkos too much.
Jami-Lee did an excellent job in tormenting Lyen Brown.
While some may question his full time politician background, I like the way he has overcome less than desirable family circumstances make something of his life.
I think Jami-Lee will make a great MP.
Just a shame he didn’t finish off the mayor first.

Will Adolf, the eternal lapdog of the Nats, ever dare to criticise his masters in Wellington?

Thanks for your well intentioned comments Adolf. The post is not really about Mr. Ross so much as about the ineptitude of the Herald and its refusal to allow any real political debate.
