General Debate 26/02/11

Great article by Michelle Malkin. Just how much longer will we tolerate these subversive bastards and their double standards and their lies and deceit???

Barack Obama’s new era of civility was over before it began. You wouldn’t know it from reading The New York Times, watching Katie Couric or listening to the Democratic manners police. But America has been overrun by foul-mouthed, fist-clenching wildebeests.

Yes, the tea party movement is responsible — for sending these liberal goons into an insane rage, that is. After enduring two years of false smears as sexist, racist, homophobic barbarians, it is grassroots conservatives and taxpayer advocates who have been ceaselessly subjected to rhetorical projectile vomit. It is Obama’s rank-and-file “community organizers” on the streets fomenting the hate against their political enemies. Not the other way around.

Here’s a little gem I read last night that most of you will enjoy. You may well have seen it but it was new to me…
    ————————————————————————————–

If you ever wondered what side of the fence you sit on, this is a great test!

If a conservative doesn’t like guns, he doesn’t buy one.
If a liberal doesn’t like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.

If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn’t eat meat..
If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for
    Everyone.

If a conservative is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a liberal is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.

If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a conservative doesn’t like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Liberals demand that those they don’t like be shut down.

If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn’t go to church.
A liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.
(Unless it’s a foreign religion, of course!)

If a conservative reads this, he’ll forward it so his friends can have
    A good laugh.
A liberal will delete it because he’s “offended”.

Well, I forwarded it to you.

Remember if they call you a right wing extremist, to proudly say,

“I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice. And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue.”

Too bloody right, Jeremy. Wasnt it Barry Goldwater who said that?

The fact that “Extremism” and “Fundamentalism” are essentially interchangeable, implies that to be labelled as such is not ALWAYS a bad thing.

For example, a Fundamentalist Christian (one who takes the Bible seriously) is NOT a bad thing, whereas a Fundamentalist Muslim (one who takes the Koran & Hadiths seriously) is.

I guess it depends on the nature of the philosophy/ideology/religion about which the individual is identified as being a “Fundamentalist”. Adhering to the fundamentals of any belief system is surely the foundation for any form of genuine identification with that belief system.

I’m also a fundamentalist when it comes to liberty, justice, and freedom of speech …

Surely we’re ALL fundamentalists in regards to those things we belief in and apply to the ways in which we live our lives.

    And as Jeremy quoted:
“I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice. And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue.”

    Amen to that!

Yip, great spotting… Was reading his wikipedia page last night and that jumped out at me, this too:

“To insist on strength is not war-mongering. It is peace-mongering.”
