The NZ Police force is a shambles and its all down to ineffective management. It’s clear to anyone with a brain the system is bogged down by ridiculous rules and regulations that prevent the front line Police from doing their duty. That’s to protect law abiding New Zealanders from the actions of criminals. Especially violent criminals.
The service is hobbled by politically correct garbage and over cautious guidelines that are to a large extent the result of Judith Collin’s insane obsession with enforcing “affirmative action” ideas that should have been dust binned two decades ago. Putting small and weak women at the front line of Policing has endangered male police officers, and mandated ridiculous procedures designed to compensate for women’s lack of strength.
The Waikato Times reports-
A Paeroa couple could do nothing but watch as a man was stabbed then beaten by two men outside their house on Wednesday night. Sue and Owen Marsh were too scared to try to help the 26-year-old victim – who police found with a knife embedded in his face – who stood bleeding and pleading for help on the deck of their Menzies Pl house about 11pm. The blade of the knife entered just below eye level and passed through the roof of his mouth.
Mrs Marsh said they became increasingly concerned the longer they waited for police to arrive. To her recollection, she called 111 three times over a period of nearly an hour.
But police have defended their response, saying it was handled in the “most appropriate manner possible”.
Eastern Waikato area commander Inspector Marcus Lynam said at the time the stabbing took place the area was covered by an on-call officer. “When the first call to 111 came in the officer travelled into the Paeroa police station to uplift a Taser and a firearm,” he said. “This obviously took some time and the caller was told … that it would be 20-30 minutes before police would arrive.” The officer then went to a “safe forward point” to meet up with ambulance staff and await the arrival of backup officers coming from Thames.
I don’t know Paeroa that well, but if I recall correctly, you could drive right through it in about ten minutes max. What was going on in the sixty minutes it took for a response? Just hopeless. if it takes that long to deal with a problem like this the cop should at least have the damn gear he needs in his/her car or at home. And probably just showing up with siren wailing and lights flashing would have been enough to scare the perpetrators into flight.
This country is just bogged down in bullshit. You can see it in the Christchurch earthquake recovery effort and you can see it in events like this that are far from rare. One would think that of all the National Party politicians, Judith Collins might be able to clear the logjam of politically correctness that is choking the country, but sadly, it appears she’s just as infected with the disease as almost every other part of our government and institutions. This event in Paeroa is disgraceful. I have to wonder though if the officer concerned was male of female. This point seems strangely absent from the report on the incident.

This is just bullshit–on a par with the Brit police who can stand by and watch somebody drown in a ditch while they wait for the Approved Rescuers to arrive.
My message to coppers who do this is:
do the fucking job you’re sworn to do or get out.
It make me bloody wild. Joe Public IS NOT PROTECTED BY THE POLICE and therefore Joe Public should ignore all laws pertaining to the keeping and use of deadly weapons.

If this couple would have been properly armed, they could have decisively resolved the matter there and then, probably before anything serious would have happened.
On top of that, if the sort of people that go about assaulting and stabbing people had to always contemplate the probability that any bystander, or even someone in a nearby house may just draw a bead on them while they are engaging in their violent acts, the incentive to behave in that manner may well be significantly reduced.
It is precisely the fact that government has turned the general population into shivering sheep that this type of goons can sustain their behaviour.

My faith in the NZ police decreases a little every day. “Pathetic” doesn’t begin to describe their [lack of] response.
And what a shame the couple in their home didn’t have a loaded shotgun, and the legal backing to enable them to use it! Of course, as Keith said, a heavy object would have been a good second choice.

Sinner I suspect if a weapon had been handy and had been presented then what passes for justice in this country would have seen Sue and Owen in the dock. This joint is turning into a three ring circus and the clowns are paid by us. Quite frankly it’s madness. The job of government is to protect it’s citizens, clearly this is beyond their abilities. If government and law enforcement can’t get their shit together then chaos will rein. Time is running out, if government fails to step up to the plate we have a well armed population that will. And that is far from desirable.

TVNZ news did an item recently on a decommissioning police station in Auckland ( I think). It had a large bar.
New station won’t have one. That is senior officer policy. What bollocks. The force is now run by wowsers. Same all over the “progressive” west.
