The mania that the watermelons have brought upon society knows no end, and Earth Hour is just another example of their ludicrous semi-religious worship of Gaia.
Turn on your lights. Celebrate human achievement and scientific success and the technology that has brought men from caves to making starships and sending them on interplanetary voyages.
Reject the charlatans who would have you believe we face environmental degradation and doom for this reason and that reason, all fraudulent. History has shown these pitiful collectivist naysayers have been wrong every time.
These scaremongering fakes seek political dominance and engage massive propaganda forces to achieve this objective. Everything they say is lies, and if you need proof of their subterfuge, just look at the way they indoctrinate children with their fascist garbage, knowing that rational adults will never accept it. If they want to get their ideas into the mainstream of discussion they have to do it through gullible and naive youth, easy prey to their necromancy.
I despise these contemptible charlatans. Turn your lights on, as many and as bright as possible and let them know how wholeheartedly you reject their socialism and their communism and their neo-fascism. Responsible for so much destruction and poverty and misuse of capital and resources in the world today, they’re stinking lying anti-human propagandists and they deserve nothing but contempt.

Thanks for the reminder – have just counted 86 halogen downlights in & around the house (actually lost count, might be more) plus 26 fluorescents downstairs plus a few odds & sodds. I hope I can afford this (oh, about a dollar’s worth I guess).

Yeah, and I’ve got all the floodlighting on my driveway that I never use. I’ll make sure that’s going full bore.

As I said at NZC:
But if you turn your lights out for one hour it sends a clear message to National to raise all of the ETS taxes to save the planet.
Although most people think that turning your lights out for an hour means watching TV in the dark.

We all have a duty to use as much power as possible in Earth Hour to neutralise the propaganda and influence of the evil watermelons. Its a good thing to do guys.

What a shame I couldn’t get my hands on one of those WWII aircraft search lights.
Wouldn’t it be so cool to blast one of those up into the sky tonight right on 8:30pm?
Might try and find one for next year.

@medusa they still add up to more than 6kW – hope that’s OK 🙂 (actually 91 halogens, I misspoke).

@jonno1, I have been accumulating incandescants for quite some time now, I have a couple of fluoros but still prefer incandescants, I can see what am doing, reading, cooking. But if you are making your personal statement with halogens I bow to your choice *smiles*

Myself and two mates have built a replica lighthouse and (18 meters high) with a 3rd order Fresnel lens to top it off. It’s works fucking brilliant but we are not to shine it out to sea at night, being told it’s off to the big house if we do. When we fire it up the whole district knows it. Probably head down at nine to put it through it’s paces.

@side show bob, OK you win. Just been for a spin in the beemer; man my house looks good! Might do this every night. There are a few other players around too which is great. Had to drive slow though since Len has turned out the streetlights & traffic lights [just kidding].

The neighbours are having a 50th birthday party complete with colourful lights and a great big fuck off karaoke machine. I wonder if they’ll shut it down at 8.30?

Thank you Lucia. I think the Watermelons are the biggest curse we have had upon our civilisation for a long time.

How can you say that Red? The watermelons aren’t a curse on our civilisation! Just because they want to reverse 200 years of progress doesn’t mean they’re not forward-thinking Progressives! OH PLEASE WON’T SOMEONE THINK OF THE FUTURE and turn off your lights for an hour.
Surely this whole Earf Our thing is someone having a lend?

Hi Lucia have a few links, I hope they work not to clever when it comes to links, that shows our project. We started this project in 1999, I was commodore at the time, and finished the structure and reinstalled the light around 2008. We been working on the four floors below the light which is used to show how the light works, local history and local shipwrecks over the years. No forget the links easier if you google cape egmont replica lighthouse, some photos and our story is posted on several websites. But happy to send inside shots of the light etc have heaps in computer.

Bob, I just saw the pic on southtaranaki.com (I assume that’s your light house). Mate I sure hope you lit that bad boy up last night. It would have been spectacular!

Yeah that’s the one Gantt Guy. And yes it is spectacular when fired up. If fact many mariners now complain the modern light put in the real lighthouse is crap. Our one blows the modern piece of shit out of the water. Went to start it up last night but realised we had taken down the black out curtain to go to the cleaners. Have to put the curtain up to stop light shinning out to sea as it rotates . Can’t have a ship thinking they have rounded the cape and turn towards land, could be messy. Had a big day a couple of weeks ago and everything had to be spring cleaned, including the curtain, as we launched a new sea rescue boat, google it, amazing machine but we are none to popular with the coastguard, another long story.
