Texas Raises Speed Limit to 85 MPH (137 KPH)

Gawd, I wish I had been born in Texas. While here in NZ the nanny state do gooders won’t fix the roads, and won’t be happy until we’re all driving at 30KPH or on public transport, in Texas they’re going to raise the speed limit from 80 to 85mph. The Statesman reports

The speed limit on some highways in Texas may be raised to 85 mph, the highest in the nation, under legislation the Texas House approved Wednesday. The measure passed on a voice vote was part of a larger transportation bill. It would authorize the Texas Department of Transportation to raise the speed limit on designated lanes or entire stretches of roads after doing engineering and traffic studies. The Senate is considering a similar bill.

Did you hear about the recent Norwegian study that showed bicycle helmets have no effect on increasing safety when the neck injuries from wearing them are factored in..?

When was the last time you heard about someone coming off a bike and landing on the top of their head..?

Helmet laws, your days are numbered…

Actually they elected the communists in NT. What’s the first thing the scum did? Cancelled the open limit and set it at 130kph.

Yes, that happened just as I passed through the NT a few years back.
There’s nothing like doing 130-140kph in a 95 Falcon on a straight open road.
