There are still a huge number of people out there who consider government as their God, and wish for it to grow ever greater in size, and ever more powerful. Government is the domain of leftists, and this is what makes it a truly great organisation, for unlike private sector organisations, government run by leftists will always be correct in everything they do. Here is a great example-
THE Bligh Government has made a complete mockery of its “Buy Local” flood recovery campaign after buying cheap imported T-shirts from overseas to promote the program. Public servants even tried to cover up the embarrassing bungle by cutting off the shirts’ tags displaying the country of origin.
The 1500 shirts emblazoned with “Buy local Back Qld” were to be handed out to promote Premier Anna Bligh’s Operation Queenslander campaign, touting struggling businesses after the summer natural disasters. However, the Government has admitted to a “gross error of judgment” in ignoring local manufacturers and instead buying almost $10,000 worth of T-shirts made in Bangladesh and the US.
The hypocrisy has been slammed by local manufacturers and the attempted cover-up only just missed breaching consumer laws, which do not require the country of origin to be displayed on distributed goods and only stipulate that the origin presented cannot be misleading.
Just marvelous ain’t it, and it causes one to ponder on where we might be if everything was left to these dumb leftist jerks. (as they would like it to be)

And who was the moron who contemplated having t-shirts promoting “Buy local Back Qld” made offshore in the first place?!
The only thing worse than this is the cover-up which followed. Is there such a thing as an honest and principled Leftist, or is that a contradiction in terms?

Well Kris, that is a contradiction in more than one sense. No there aren’t honest leftists, as honesty and leftism are irreconcilable. Yes there are principled leftists, but their principle is to never declare or define accurately what their principles are, so in that sense there is just as much a principled leftist as there is a consistent liar.
Furthermore, leftists arrange and subvert language to suit their purposes, so what you may understand as “honest” or “principled” can mean something completely different to the leftist. Also, the leftist is a typical postmodernist, who will claim that words mean nothing outside personal, subjective reality and hence, that your attempt at using these words with a moral imperative is only limited to your own reality, wherefore they only mean something to you in that context, thus speaking more about you than about the leftist in question.
Now shut up asking stupid questions and enjoy your Sunday television, while the leaders and their lackeys carry on inventing brilliant schemes to cure the ails of the world.

You are of course correct, Bez – at least when we conservatives use terms such as “honest” or “principled” we generally know, and can agree on, their meaning. It reminds me of debating religion where you may use the same terminology but the meaning behind such terminology can mean quite different things depending on the authority you draw on.
And yes, I think I can hear my TV calling me … who am I to challenge the accepted wisdom 😉
