The amazing thing is it keeps happening. Like a snowball rolling down a hill and attracting more snow as it rolls, so socialism careers on its destructive path. Seemingly unstoppable, even when the destruction and cruelty it deals in is everywhere to be seen. What will it take for people to snap out of their intellectual torpor and fight back against the shadowy forces working to propel this drooling monster?
They’ve destroyed California and made it Kalifornia. They have destroyed Detroit and Chicago and most of the UK. They’ve destroyed the crown jewel of capitalism, the Big Apple, New York, now rotten from the core to its skin. Once where you would go if you wanted to make it, its now where you go if you want to take it. Other people’s money that is. The New York Post reports-
According to USA Today, no state gives more money to its citizens than the erstwhile Empire State.
So we’re No. 1 — in dependency. Oy, the ignominy.
The study, based on federal data, puts the cost of social programs — Medicaid, food stamps, college scholarships and other benefits — at $9,442 for every man, woman and child in New York (not just those who get benefits).
That beats out other states with large numbers of poor folks, like 15th-place Florida ($7,939 per resident), 35th-place California ($6,869) and 46th-place Texas ($6,167). Medicaid is a key culprit: New York spends more than twice the national average on Medicaid and a third more than any other state.
Once New York was known as the leader in areas New Yorkers could be proud of — culture, finance, commerce …
Now it sets the pace for government handouts.
So the snowball keeps rolling and all those forces who are out there saying they don’t want it continue to push it. Take John Banks for example. A big talking self professed Conservative, Banks allowed Auckland rates to rise 5.1 per cent, 2 per cent and 1.9 per cent during this term [..] and increased council debt from $322 million to $867 million. He also voted to raise $12 million in bus lane and parking fines over this term to hold down rates.
It has to stop. We can’t put our hopes in shallow self promoting wordsmiths any more. Stuff has to start happening.

When they’ve been sacked and no longer being paid with my wealth, no-one will notice any difference……. except for the extra freedom.

Sad thing is there are more takers then makers in this country. I can’t see it changing till the country implodes and the people start getting hungry. The political class seem to live in world not governed by the laws of physics and money is produced by decree with no thought of the ramifications.

OT..
Been lots of feigned yawning and, indeed, postured indifference from US blogsites re The Wedding.
Seems 3 billion TV viewers and the fact that this outclasses the Oscars + Presidential Inauguration + Disneyland + the Superbowl pisses the Yankees off no end.
Hee, hee…..envy is a bugger.

NYC has been a socialistic hell hole since well before the city went bankrupt in the late 70s…
