Maori Maori Maori..!!! – Rugby World Cup Falls Victim To NZ’s Separatist Forces

I couldn’t watch much of the RWC opening ceremony. Unlike the majority of cringing politically correct liberals, I’ve had it up to here with never ending displays of stone age culture at every major event, politically motivated and designed to propagate the false idea that Maori culture is the dominant NZ culture.

Its why I detest the performance of the haka, and why I dislike the All Blacks carrying out this embarrassingly offensive ritual before every rugby game.

A little is OK. For the last decade or so we’ve had so much of this primitive bullshit shoved down our throats its become a complete turn off. Almost always underpinned financially by government handouts, which means money taken from hard working NZ families who would normally have much better uses for it.

Who are these weak cringing PC officials who allow the Maori separatists to have the most influence at every ceremonial event? This is World Cup Rugby, not the opening of some damn Rotorua Marae.

Rugby is an English game. It (reputedly) started at Rugby Public School when William Webb Ellis picked up a soccer ball and ran with it. It is not a game that has within its origins any connection with Maori. Auckland City was built by New Zealanders, not Maori on their own, and if anyone from overseas was viewing last night’s opening ceremony, they could be forgiven for thinking there were no white people (or any other race for that matter) living in Auckland. Or New Zealand.

The opening ceremony was a sop to tribalism and racism and separatism and the officials behind it should all be fired. They won’t be of course. That should be warning enough to any real New Zealander. Get out, and let the place sink in a sewer of racism and socialism of its own making. Leave these pathetic savages and socialists and cringing white liberals to their own devices and their own outcomes. It’s the only way they’ll learn.

(With about 100,000 Maoris living in Australia it could possibly indicate that many of them have had enough of this separatist rubbish as well)

Amen! Too bloody right. A people who didn’t even have a written language, who had never seen a wheel until Europeans arrived, are being promoted as the face of NZ. What a sickening, embarrassing travesty.

Weeell, NZ does support racially selected national sporting teams and a racial qualification to vote in national elections plus racially reserved seats on various boards.

    Time for another cultural grant.

And ANOTHER thing that really sticks in my craw is that the first verse of the national anthem is always sung in Maori [and then repeated in English]. Why? Why in Maori first (not second)? Why in Maori at all?!
This is just another example of where “Maori culture” is put before, and therefore implied to be superior, then New Zealand culture.
To not stand against it is to condone and promote “everything Maori” above all else.
    Sickening!!!

Why is this happening when NZ is deep in debt and on the point of economic collapse. Is this a country of complete morons? Where is the serious pushback on government (local and central) spending? Trevor, perhaps you have to live here to understand.
Maori, while a minority [and usually more English than Maori in their heritage], are given a status well above the rest of NZ society. There exists a Maori gravy train, and ongoing land claims etc which both oppress most Maori (many are welfare recipients and fill our jails) while continuing to burden the productive sector and taxpayers of our society by what amounts to outright theft.
Numerous Marxist governments, including the current so called rightwing National led government, continue to pander to ongoing Maori demands and “all things Maori”, and damn the rest of the country. This creates a “them versus us” divided NZ society and disadvantages both Maori and non-Maori alike.
I suggest you consider this issue more deeply. You won’t get any help from the 6 o’clock news, but there are many conservative NZ blogs (like this one) which have outlined this issue in great detail in recent years. The truth is out there.

For you to criticize the Maori Culture and the Maori People like that, is disgusting… and all you other people who agree with this person… I SERIOUSLY DO NOT KNOW WHY YOU LIVE IN NEW ZEALAND FOR IF YOU CAN NOT STAND THE CULTURE AND PEOPLE WHO FOUND THIS COUNTRY AND ALLOWED FOR PEOPLE OF SUCH LITTLE BRAINS INTO THIS COUNTRY!!!!

The best FULL BACK the world has ever seen … he was also the full back for the invincible…
The Nation Anthem is Sung in Maori and in English because those are the two OFFICIAL (yes i said official) Languages of New Zealand. The fact that the Maori national Anthem is sung before the english is purely because it sounds better and because it is upholding the rights which Maori have in the Treaty of Waitangi…
if you have a problem with anything which happens within New Zealand and the fact that we represent the Maori Culture, then I think you need to MOVE OUT …. What a load of PC crap, Joe.
I made the complaint that the National Anthem being sung first in Maori is wrong – no one understands it and it’s not even an accurate rendering of the English first verse, and therefore shouldn’t be sung in Maori at all IMO. And the only reason it is sung in Maori is because some jumped up Maori singer decided, without permission, she would sing it in Maori not English. And it was this, not the faux Treaty, which started the practice.

Oh, and by the way Joe I’m part Maori. But the more the separatist faction within Maoridom promotes division in this country, and not to mention the whole impression that Maori are somehow superior to the rest of us, the more I am disinclined to even mention I have Maori heritage at all.

You have all been totally mis-informed for if you had read about the history of Aotearoa (New Zealand), you would know that Maori were in-fact here from time immemorial, and it is not your fault, the history books you have had to digest were written to the bias cause of justifying this behaviour. so yes it was right that Maori represent th diversity of this nation. why cant we have Maori culture part of the fabric of New Zealand, for if we did not wouldnt we be an English culture? you may say but im kiwi yes you can be a flightless bird, but what is your culture, Maori culture is not exclusive it is inclusive, Pakeha is a term used in good-faith, as Maori valued their Pakeha guests when they arrived in Aotearoa. and I am sorry Jay but you are in-correct, history rather tells a different story where Pakeha were heavily reliant on their Maori hosts to advance their plans, Maori used good will to do this which was taken well advantage of. Why does the tax payer have to be white? KG you seem angry at something, what it is I do not know? abuse? this concept came with the colonisers, women and children were truly valued highest amongst all things, the colonisers however could not comprehend having to deal directly with a woman, as in Engalnd woman could not own land, and were thus treated inferior. so you are not to blame only the colonisers, I am proud of my Scottish heritage my ancestors got on fine with Maori, and vice versa.
The treaty is important as it outlined the importance Colonisers placed on working in tandum with Maori, if both parties had stuck to the letter how good would NZ be? both cultures working in unison, instead of the division which is prevalent today. I leave with somthing to think about. Scottish settlors warned Maori not to sign the Treaty with the English, as they had been harshly treated by them in Scotland, notwithstanding Maori signed as they truly believed in a partnership that can work. so what do you say? “we are all in this together”

“…you would know that Maori were in-fact here from time immemorial..”
    Wrong. Clearly, factually wrong.
“..abuse? this concept came with the colonisers,.”
Again, factually wrong. Read the accounts of the first settlers and missionaries. Read Alan Duff’s “Both Sides of The Moon”. I lived in the Far North for a few years and people still talk about how places like Peach Island were used to keep slaves captive until they could be eaten. And the local Ngapuhi used to raid Kaikohe for children to eat. So if “women and children were truly valued highest among all things” maori males had a very strange way of demonstrating it.
“The treaty is important as it outlined the importance Colonisers placed on working in tandum with Maori”
It did no such thing–it merely gave maori the same rights and protections as any other British subjects.

@ Jay thank you for your reply, I am sorry you must not understand immemorial in the context I expressed, from the very beginning so well before known time, the 600 year mark was the arrival of a fleet of people from the pacific, Maori is a term meaning normal, so they werent Maori they were just (normal) people, who settled with more (normal) people. for centuries Maori or normal people navigated to and from Aotearoa, its just the 600 year story made better sense for a painter named Goldie, and an English adventure story author. Jay please read my prior comments to gain abit of context about the value of people. and thank you for your recommendation by Dr John Robinson I will read it, I have read David Round lecturer from CU I think? very good read, and extremely valid, however jurisprudence if applied tilts towards Maori, and David places a huge amount of his thesis towards jurisprudence so Sir Cheif Justice David Barragwanyth believes anyway.

Just as recent research shows that maori did not come from Hawaii, but from the Taiwan region via PNG.

I had a conversation with an historian/Anthropologist, (I suppose north island/South island Aotearoa) both are pretty much historians, anyway they done genetics research and you are right Taiwan was the origin but they said 2000 years plus which would make sense as migration from Taiwan to the islands would have taken somtime as well as settlement, however some argue Peru because some sweet potatoe were exactly identicle with some found in Taiwan and the islands, and Potatoe is important as it the prime source of origin, European movements before recordable time are based on the genetics of certain potatoe, from one area to another. dont Hawaiians come from Taiwan too? I urge you to read works by Elsdon Best about a Tribe called Potiki, who have no boat to associate, they come from Aotearoa, their creation is a lot like Adam and Eve why? because they can not associate themselves with a waka or boat from the Pacific.

your comment about treaty partners, I honestly believe that ‘we are all in this together’ was it a lie? from my understanding Maori and Pakeha both fully believed this to the letter, becaues why would the Crown have signed off on it? and why did soo many Maori sign it? and why didnt Pakeha just deciamate Maori and take Aotearoa? because both sides believed in it. Our histories both Pakeha and Maori should be mandated to carry-out the wishes of our fore-fathers. other externalities are to blame for the current situation we are all in. Oh dear Dunk. You tell others they have been misinformed. Then you demonstrate your own ignorance of history.

You state “the colonisers however could not comprehend having to deal directly with a woman, as in Engalnd (sic) woman (sic) could not own land.” Dunk – women could and did own real property under common law. Equity (Dunk – that is another limb of English law) provided further protections against the inappropriate application of the common law doctrine of feme covert in marriage. Perhaps you meant to instruct us specifically on that doctrine, under which a woman’s property passed to her husband on marriage. If so, say so and I’ll debate its origins, application and reform. You are factually incorrect in stating that woman could not own property under English law at the time of the Treaty. They could and did.

Perhaps you could explain to us the nature of Maori women’s property rights prior to 1840?

And the treaty was not with England (you assert that Scottish settlers dissuaded Maori from signing the Treaty with England). Scotland had been a part of Great Britain for over 140 years by the time the Treaty was signed.

I thought the Opening Ceremony was well done, a good show piece and entertaining. But it was not representative of NZ – it was representative of one cultural group – a subset. I don’t have a problem with that as I see its purpose as entertainment and to appeal to foreigners and potential tourists.

I cannot remember any previous RWC opening ceremonies. But I can remember the rugby. That is what matters. The same will be true of this World Cup.

Dunk, others here have been far too polite. Fuck off, and take your lies and distortions with you. If “maori” meant “person” then one group of “maori” wouldn’t have successfully extorted billions (with billions more to come) from another group of “maori”. Since the Maori had no written language when Europeans arrived and since the numerous dialects of the language made inter-tribal communication difficult, I’m going to say the “maori” means extortionist, lying scumbag. It’s a far more accurate definition.

Maori ought to consider themselves lucky New Zealand was colonised by a pack of sooks like the English. Had New Zealand been colonised by a people even half-way as savage as Maori, Maori would likely not even exist today. Maori would have suffered the same fate as that of the Moriori, who ended up in Maori cooking pots. In fact, had Europeans waited a half-century they would probably have found New Zealand uninhabited given the rate at which Maori were wiping themselves out (the whole basis for the treaty was Maori seeking protection from themselves!)

A culture so advanced the only two things it gave the world world were the concept of daughters as dinner and making tattooed heads a trade currency. Latterly of course they’ve given the world the concept of growing wealthy through the manipulation of history and Liberal White Guilt (LWG).

And as for Joe … which of the TOW’s three clauses gives Maori the first verse of the National Anthem? I’ve read the document and it doesn’t mention anything about the National Anthem. It isn’t a difficult read; I’d recommend both Joe and Dunk take the time to do so. There aren’t many big words in there so you should be able to get the gist of it. You might surprise yourselves. There’s no justification for the false concept of “partnership”. There’s no justification for apartheid electoral rolls. There’s no justification for special treatment in education or employment. All of those things came about not because of anything in the treaty but because of LWG.

So fuck off and get yourselves an education.

After all,you sound like you have read the book of history in all its glory…HE WHAKAAHUA AHAU NO OKU MATUA,NO OKU TUPUNA,TUKU IHO,TUKU IHO…..Find the meaning of that and you will see where I am coming from!!

I think it matters a hell of a lot. How about you stop boring us with paragraph-less ranting and cut to the chase. I’d say there is a good chance you’re a fake Maori, meaning a NZ citizen of European descent who identifies as Maori in order to capitalize on the many advantages available through government subsidies, grants, and special treatment legislation. When in reality you don’t need any of it.

For myself, I have always refused welfare, as I have never asked any other man, rich or poor, black or white, to provide me with money he has earned. I guess you’re happy with making the so called race you identify with dependent on handouts from the rest of NZ. I thought they were meant to be a proud people.

    Hey Richa,
I’m part Maori and I have no problem with saying that many Maori are “‘savages’…’thieving feral baby-killing dirtbags’” and that many do come across as “unintelligent”. Sorry, but that’s reality and backed up with the facts. And until Maori start taking responsibility for their own, rather than excusing or ignoring it, then these trends will continue to escalate and worsen.
Last time I checked stating the facts wasn’t considered racist …

Richa says – HE WHAKAAHUA AHAU NO OKU MATUA,NO OKU TUPUNA,TUKU IHO,TUKU IHO…..Find the meaning of that and you will see where I am coming from!!

Goody – I love a puzzle. Look Richa, it has been a while since I studied the language, and I am just a humble Pakeha, who was born in NZ, as was my father, my grandfathers and so on back through six generations. I have not lived there for years. So you’ll have to cut me some slack. OK?

I would translate your phrase, idiomatically, as “I am the image of my father, of my ancestors, and so on through time.”

OK – maybe not perfect (you tell me). But I’d guess I read and speak Maori better than 80% of Maori today (thanks, or no thanks, to a school I attended where the subject was compulsory for two years – followed by a desire in my profession not to be hoodwinked by some with whom I dealt). I do not have a skerrick of Maori blood in me – I know because my family history is written back for two hundred years for every one of my ancestors – and a lot longer for some of them.

It is odd that I can read Maori (even if poorly). You see the thing is, until one of my ancestors and a few other folk from the Old Country had a crack and writing it down, there was no thing as a written language. Some in Maoridom seem to forget our contributions. I hope I said that politely enough.

OK – you said we’d see where you were coming from. Sorry – I still don’t. If your point is your cultural pride – great. I have that too.

I have just put up a post over at CR: NZ National Anthem: English-Maori Comparison. Interesting reading as it shows the ‘Maori’ National Anthem is nothing like the New Zealand National Anthem. In fact the Maori version CANNOT be called a translation of the genuine article due to it being COMPLETELY different.
On that basis we should drop this Maori corruption forthwith!!!

    Kris K,

The Maori lyrics were written by Thomas Smith, an English immigrant to New Zealand, in 1878. He was a colleague of my Grt.Grt. Grandfather. They were never intended to be a translation of the English lyrics.

Oh dear – another travesty. The lyrics were not written by a Maori. Maybe you point this out in your other post (I’ll take a look).

Those of us of a certain age grew up knowing the song as the national hymn rather than the National Anthem. I never learned the Maori lyrics as a child. in later years I chose not to, because of the politics around them, which I disagreed with (and still do). There was room for both versions – but the politics drove out any desire I had to commit to the Maori version.

  68. Kris K Avatar

Lex, the point wasn’t so much who wrote it but that the two are so completely different that in essence we have the original and genuine article and then something which couldn’t even be accused of being a rough approximation of the original. The corrupt ‘Maori’ version is so far removed from the original New Zealand National Anthem that it couldn’t even be called a bad paraphrase.

  69. Kris K Avatar

Lex, PS If the Maori version was “never intended to be a translation of the English lyrics” then why do we identify BOTH the original and the Maori [per]version to be the National Anthem? I mean to say, how many National Anthems does this nation have?! I know of only ONE!

  70. Lex Avatar

Quite true of course, and point taken. The two sets of lyrics were written only two years apart. Smith wrote his version at Governor Grey’s request. The reality was that he had to come up with lyrics to fit with the cadence of the tune – which was already written. So a literal translation wasn’t going to work. Much the same is true of lyrics written in English and, say, French.

I take some delight in the fact that it was not written by Maori – but by an Englishman at the request of another Englishman. The tune itself was written in Australia if I recall.

So to all the Maori today who take pride in the Maori lyrics of the National Anthem – thank a man who was born in Gloucestershire (I think) and learned Maori as a servant of the Colonial Government.

Actually two – God Save the Queen still carries joint status with God Defend New Zealand as a national anthem.

    Odd isn’t it?

God Defend New Zealand now appears to be considered singly in both versions of the lyrics. But the Maori version lay dormant for over 100 years. So I have no answer to your question – other than the politics around “Maorification” (the reason I do not buy into the Maori lyrics on today’s environment).

Few of you would be interested in funding any of it yourselves. Those who did would genuinely represent a living and vital maori culture.
