For anyone interested, here is a link to an old documentary about the personal computer and how it all began. Steve Jobs is in it along with Wozniak, Gates etc
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kTYb6O0lVI Part II follows on.

There was also a really good movie made about these guys that timelines their lives from about 1971 thru to 1984. It’s called Pirates Of Silicon Valley . . worth watching.

Jobs was adopted too. I never knew that. His father was a Syrian foreign exchange student or something.

Gawd….the librarian is a graceless prick. Drives around in an old Pom Rover, “works” at a uni and has delusions of tweedy academia.

Yeah, so how much was Jobs guiding genius responsible for the uniform retail price fixing of Apple computers on a national basis. If an Apple retailer discounts below the Apple officially fixed price (an illegal concept in Australia) the retailer is dropped or put out of business via coincidental “supply” problems.

Sika, the price-fixing has stuff-all to do with the design genius of Jobs. It’s possible to detest a marketing policy and still admire the product.
An old Landcruiser, eh…i drive an old Patrol these days. I mentioned the Rover because it’s so typical of PM’s pretentious bullshit image of himself.

I’m not debating his genius, i’m asking how much of it was applied to illegal retail price maintenance.

I had a Landy sent up to outback NT a few years ago. It had a Holden 186 motor and the damn thing was a disaster on wheels. It used to invent new and creative ways to break down all the time. Not exactly what I needed in a remote area during the wets season…..
