John Banks, the self professed Conservative who turned liberal to lead the ACT party, says he is “opposed to race based legislation”. To what degree he is opposed he doesn’t say.
However seeing he is in coalition government with a party that is raced based in its formation, he can’t be all that opposed.

The sincerely hope the good people of Epsom decide to retire Mr Banks at the next election. Hopefully a good high profile candidate for the Conservatives will stand there. The people of Epsom understand MMP.

Urban- Redneck- Yes, I am over Banks, especially with his obvious fakery over the Dotcom contributions. And I agree with your sentiments on a conservative candidate standing, but who? If its Colin Craig he needs to get a bit more lively.

Damn. It works fine on my site, and I have no idea why it wouldn’t on yours.

I see. The difference must be that CR is self-hosted. That’s a pity.

As an Epsom voter I did vote for him last time, but you’re right – never again. It creates a dilemma as both he and Goldsmith voted for SSM, so I guess that leaves only Conservative as an option. I’m not a single-issue voter (I realise that some compromise is necessary, eg Colin Craig opposes asset sales for some reason) but when it comes to basic morality one has to draw a line in the sand. And yes, we Epsom voters do as a whole seem to understand MMP as far as I can tell.

A dilemma is a good description. Hard to predict what will happen there, but very interesting to speculate. 🙂
