If you’re opposed to the attempted tyranny of the Progressives, then you need to understand the concept of “Critical Theory”.
I should have paid it more attention myself. Like Fabian socialism, or Socialist Internationale, its a powerful force that does much to affect change but lies below the surface of the political battle. Like Cultural Marxism, its even in most cases completely unrecognised by its main proponents, who act according to its rules without understanding where the main push is coming from.
Critical Theory is actually a cousin to Cultural Marxism. As the latter camouflages itself in so many ways, so is Critical Theory unseen as it really is, but its actually been pumped into mainstream western thinking by left wing academics for decade after decade, and the fractured and decaying societies we see today are the result. There is virtually no one in the last thirty or fourty years who hasn’t suffered some degree of indoctrination in Critical Theory either in public and private schools, or in universities throughout the West. Those smart enough to resist indoctrination have not succumbed. Unfortunately, a very large part of our society has yielded to this evil and we pay a heavy social and political price for this infection.
What is Critical Theory? In simple terms its the need to criticise everything possible concerning our traditional society. This is not to say that everything in society before the evolution of Critical Theory was perfect. A civilised society will improve itself as time goes by. That’s not the point of Critical Theory. The real aim of this corrosive ideology is the gradual destruction of our traditional society. Is must be razed so that it can be rebuilt as the Progressives want.
Those led mostly unknowingly into following this corrosive thought pattern are also in the same unknowing way completely ignorant of any counter arguments. Notice how much criticism there is of our traditions today? If you listened to the Progressives we’ve been doing everything wrong for centuries and in a complete inversion of reality, the white civilized man is now the author of all of the world’s misfortunes. There’s nothing good. Its all bad.
Allegations of racism are for a variety of reasons currently rife across the western world, and this is a good illustration of how Critical Theory works. Take NZ for example. Youth have been told for decades now that what happened to NZ when it became part of the British empire was a terrible injustice. We should all be deeply ashamed of what happened at that time and in ensuing events. Most Progressives firmly identify with this position. Its why we have the Waitangi Tribunal and millions of dollars in taxpayer’s money being handed out in gross ineptitude as a means to try and allay that shame.
Then there’s the second part. After successfully generating a complete reversal of reality in our minds, the Critical Theorists then ensure that any good that came of that time is buried. History is ignored or perverted to frame what happened as a harm rather than a good. So our traditions and history are made worthless in the eyes of the indoctrinated, and only a new society can provide the solution. Not only was there no good in our past, it was simultaneously all evil.
If you just stand back and take in the wide view for a moment, the horror of the whole scenario becomes apparent. Our societies have been deeply infected by this disease. Critical Theory is rampant. Among other allegations- Our societies are unequal, they’re racist, they’re sexist, women are subjugated to men, men are responsible for family violence. Homosexuals, transsexuals and every other damn gender are subjugated and treated unfairly. Immigrants are victimised. We’re destroying the planet to the extent we’re even responsible for bad weather. We’re war mongers. We support a destructive system in capitalism. Our democracies are unrepresentative. The rich are exploiting the poor. The West is exploiting the under-developed countries. We’re mercilessly killing our wildlife. Driving numerous species to extinction. We’re driving barbarians to justifiably attack us. These are just a few examples off the top of my head. The criticism actually runs much much deeper and wider.
All of these criticism are happening not because the subject problems exist in any reality, but because of the infection of “Critical Theory” that is rampant in our societies today. Implanted there by a politically corrupted education system that works at primary secondary and tertiary level to infect the brains of our youth with this destructive ideology. Working hand in hand with Cultural Marxism to corrode our Western societies from the inside.
I urge all who find this subject interesting to research it. In the most cases, parties that claim to be Conservative appear powerless to stop it. Because we do not identify and isolate the enemy or the weapons he uses.
If the Progressives are to be stopped in their march toward their new utopian tyranny, then we must understand their strategies. If you already know of and understand Cultural Marxism, then you should also know and understand “Critical Theory”. I’ll finish with a passage on this subject from Bill Lind, from an article on Cultural Marxism and Political Correctness on his site “Accuracy in Academia”
The stuff we’ve been hearing about this morning – the radical feminism, the women’s studies departments, the gay studies departments, the black studies departments – all these things are branches of Critical Theory. What the Frankfurt School essentially does is draw on both Marx and Freud in the 1930s to create this theory called Critical Theory. The term is ingenious because you’re tempted to ask, “What is the theory?” The theory is to criticize. The theory is that the way to bring down Western culture and the capitalist order is not to lay down an alternative. They explicitly refuse to do that. They say it can’t be done, that we can’t imagine what a free society would look like (their definition of a free society). As long as we’re living under repression – the repression of a capitalistic economic order which creates (in their theory) the Freudian condition, the conditions that Freud describes in individuals of repression – we can’t even imagine it. What Critical Theory is about is simply criticizing. It calls for the most destructive criticism possible, in every possible way, designed to bring the current order down. And, of course, when we hear from the feminists that the whole of society is just out to get women and so on, that kind of criticism is a derivative of Critical Theory. It is all coming from the 1930s, not the 1960s.

There are three main strategies that have over time allowed the left to dominate our political conversation. They are Political Correctness, Cultural Marxism and Critical Theory. All part of the same merged offensive by the Progressives.
Another part of this winning strategy has been a tactic I have decided to call “false consensus”. Whereby the left generate the public conception that their ideas have wide appeal and universal support.
This is actually a two part offensive, where the second part is the promotion of the idea that anyone who opposes Progressive ideas is an outlier.
For example what they called “marriage equality” but was really the redefining of traditional marriage was portrayed by politicians and the media as having wide support. In fact it did not have that support. The queers didn’t want a referendum on the issue because they knew this. They knew a referendum would smash the idea (promoted by a complaint media) that marriage redefinition was a popular idea with majority support.
In fact even on the extreme left John Campbell show, where a referendum was held, the vote (out of 18000 responses) was 77% opposed to marriage redefinition.
It is a deliberate strategy of the left, helped by a media who willingly participate in the deceit, to promote the lie that their ideas are popular and those who disagree are extremists or outliers.
Neither of these ideas represent reality. They are part of a deliberate propaganda hoax. The left’s ideas are in fact not at all popular. Those who oppose them are not outliers. In fact it is highly likely they are more representative of public opinion than the Progressives.

Hi red, I know this is off the topic, however, I know it will be of huge interest to you. Craig has sent circulars throughout NZ defending himself. And all Whaleoil can do, is be silly about the no circulars policy and make that the whole thing. And his comments part shows that he has deleted everybody who isn’t his friend. So I thought you might want to do something on that. Anyhow, back to the topic, sorry to interrupt to the rest of you.

Slater is just doing his usual hate on Conservatives thing. There has been plenty of Labour and National pamphlets that have made it past those “No circular” signs, but apparently its only a crime when Colin Craig does it.

What you have explained Red is what has been going on in my head but I don’t have the ability to right it down in such a great way.
Try to tell some of my friends about what is happening and their eyes glaze over.Many just don’t grasp the seriousness of what is and has been happening.
One of my sons is on to it though so I hope many in the young generation wake up and start challenging the wrecking of society.

What annoys me John is that it is not difficult to mount a counter argument to the Progressives, even a child could do it, but the National Party just seems content to slide further and further left without a damn care.
It infuriates and sickens me everyday to observe their pathetic capitulation when it would be so easy to turn things around if they would just show some spine and commitment.

They’re all flat out calling Labour racist now and siding with Devoy when she was the worst in the world not so long ago after her criticism of cartoons she perceived as attacking Maoris.

Red, that photo of Sgt Leonard Sifleet being beheaded is what should be on the news every “Hiroshima” day. Knights of Bushido and the rape of nanking should be mandatory reading in our schools. Additionally and BTW the left always bang on about Vietnam and the noble cause of the Vietminh and Dien Bin Phu. They never cover the fate of the thousands of French prisoners which was as much an aftermath as the battle itself.

There is a reason white Europeans are constantly bombarded with critical theory – to destroy the most natural human feeling of belonging to a successful tribe – the knowledge that one’s own is best, the triumphant joy at feeling oneself to be part of humanity’s finest, the heirs to the richest legacy that spawned from the enlightenment.
By filling up youngsters’ addled brains with critical theory, it removes their willingness to defend their birthright and resist destruction of their society by way of mass immigration.
Have you read Camp of the Saints? I can’t recommend enough for the end game of critical theory.

Red, I think you give our political masters far too little credit. I wouldn’t say most, because some really do belong in a sheltered workshop* (Jacinda Ardern, anyone?), but many fully comprehend both cultural marxism and critical theory, and have embraced both with enthusiasm. Far too many genuinely despise our Western culture and wish to see it destroyed.
* Not suggesting for a second that Parliament isn’t, in fact, a sheltered workshop.

Gantt, its a question I frequently mull upon myself.
How many practicing Communists understand such things as Critical Theory and Cultural Marxism, and how many are just gullible social justice warriors who really do believe the propaganda?
I think those who do understand it are the Marxist professors. But take Helen Clark for example. She was more or less a blank political slate until she arrived at university, where she was soon converted into a raving SJW.
Does she truly understand critical theory or cultural Marxism? Quite ready to admit I was wrong upon evidence to the contrary, but I doubt she does.
Clark and those like her are a product of brainwashing, with the most important aspect of that being that she has never, in the time in her youth that her ideas were formed, had the opportunity to consider any alternative ideas.
There are so many leftist or progressive organisations on campuses, but very few Conservative organisations as a counter. Universities in NZ actively discourage them.
So we have an environment where mush brained impressionable youths like Clark are exposed to a one sided litany of left wing ideas, and become enchanted by them. Does she then associate these ideas with critical theory? I don’t know but I’d think Clark really thinks she is pursuing social injustice.
The people who filled Clark’s brain with mush? I think they are the ones who understand critical theory.
BTW, when I said we needed politicians who understood it, I meant politicians in the National Party. They cannot win unless they understand Left wing strategies and then devise their own strategies to counter them.
