Ted Cruz or Donald Trump?

First there is this article by Robert Reich who served in the administrations of Presidents Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter and was Secretary of Labor under President Bill Clinton from 1993 to 1997.

Reich is currently Chancellor’s Professor of Public Policy at the Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California, Berkeley. He was formerly a professor at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government and professor of social and economic policy at the Heller School for Social Policy and Management of Brandeis University.

Five reasons Ted Cruz is even more dangerous than Donald Trump.

He’s more fanatical. Trump is a bully and bigot but doesn’t hew to any sharp ideological line. Cruz is a fierce ideologue: He denies the existence of man-made climate change, rejects same-sex marriage, wants to abolish the Internal Revenue Service, believes the 2nd amendment guarantees everyone a right to guns, doesn’t believe in a constitutional divide between church and state, favors the death penalty, opposes international agreements, embraces a confrontational foreign policy, rejects immigration reform, demands the repeal of “every blessed word of Obamacare,” and takes a strict “originalist” view of the meaning of the Constitution.

Cruz is a true believer. Trump has no firm principles except making money, getting attention, and gaining power. But Cruz really does detest the federal government, and has spent much of his life embracing radical right economic and political views. When Cruz said “we are facing what I consider to be the epic battle of our generation,” he wasn’t referring to jihadist terrorism but to Obamacare.

He’s Smarter. Trump is no slouch but he hasn’t given any indication of a sharp mind. Cruz is razer-sharp: It’s not just his degrees from Princeton and Harvard Law, along with an impressive record at Harvard, or even his winning arguments before the Supreme Court. For his entire adult life he’s been a fierce debater with a intensely-logical debater’s mind.

He’s more disciplined and strategic. Trump is all over the place, often winging it, saying whatever pops into his mind. Cruz hews to a clear script and a carefully crafted strategy. He plays the long game (as he’s shown in Iowa). Cruz’s legal career entailed a sustained use of the courts to achieve conservative ends, and he plots his moves carefully.

Cruz is a loner who’s willing to destroy institutions. Trump has spent his career using the federal government and making friends with big shots. Not Cruz. Most of his Republican colleagues in the Senate detest him. And Cruz is eager to destroy: He has repeatedly crossed to the other side of the Capitol and led House Republicans toward fiscal cliffs. In the Fall of 2013, Cruz’s strident opposition to Obamacare – including a 21-hour talking marathon — led in a significant way to the shutdown of the federal government.

Both men would be disasters for America, but Cruz would be the larger disaster.

Then there is this video-

I know who I prefer.

UPDATE

Have to include this telling exchange from TV show Face the Nation-

DICKERSON: What is your definition of conservative?

TRUMP: Well, I think it’s a person that doesn’t want to take overly risks. I think that’s a good thing.

I think it’s a person that wants to — in terms of government I’m talking about, a person that wants to conserve, a person that wants to, in a financial sense, balance budgets, a person that feels strongly about the military. And I feel very strongly about the military.

And you have some of these people, they don’t even want to focus on the military. Our military is falling apart. I feel very, very — and I have always felt very, very strongly about the military.

By the way, if you look at vision, when you look at the word vision, I was the one that said take the oil. I have been saying that for years. And I said take the oil, let’s take the oil. And nobody would listen. Then, all of a sudden, after Paris, they started saying, maybe that’s right, we will take the oil. They still don’t do it the proper way.

And lastly, Donald Trump’s latest tweet-

It is the same around the world. The majority of people want a leader who will do everything the want. There is no such person – here or in the US. Whoever one vote for is always a compromise. The most honest person in the US elections is Bennie Sanders – Bill O’Reilly says that. However he would be a disaster.

For world peace that means defeating the Muslims who want to rule the world Cruz is the best bet.

Does this mean Trump will strengthen the Military and use it to invade the ME and take the oil? Not necessarily a conservative approach.. I think Trump needs to measure his rhetoric and focus on internal issues. He should consolidate his position and not risk it. Clearly not his style though.

I don’t think TRUMP™ will send in troops – I hope TRUMP™ will send in NUKES!

Americas greatest asset are its Constitution and Faith, not its Nukes. They can ‘make America great again’ by focusing internally, by destroying socialism and corruption. As far as foreign policy goes they could pretty much sit back and watch the rest of the world destroy itself, no need to start fights with it.

At the end of the day all we can do is hope a benign suit doesn’t scam his way through to the nomination. Trump has written a lot of excellent books and his thinking resonates with almost all of my conservative and libertarian leaning beliefs. If he stays even half true to his word America will have a president we conservative types in NZ can promote to get our own Trump.

I am worried about Cruz. If he does sneak through and it is highly unlikely do we want the corrupt legal establishment to knock him out over eligibility?? At least we know Trump is an American.

Trump and Putin are starting to sound very similar in policy tone and rhetoric. David Farrar is getting quite aggressive about Trump as are the other Key sycophants that didn’t give Trump a snowballs chance in hell of getting thus far.

Trump is a class act IMHO and he has a great team of smart people on board. He did not get to where he today is by being a goofy looking dunderhead who just got lucky.

Oh FFS, lay off the birther crap. First, NOBODY has standing to bring suit. The 27 suits brought against the Emperor Barry were ALL tossed because of a lack of standing.

Secondly, Cruz did NOT have to go through a naturalisation process, he is ‘natural born’ by virtue of his mother’s American citizenship.

As for Trump and Putin? You think that’s somehow a good thing?

I think them both verbalizing the same thing is good for global governance. Two leaders like that respecting each other is a good thing. No one respects Obama.

Cruz or his team has been caught out lying. That is disappointing because I thought if the Trump vote doesn’t hold up there would be a reasonable backup. Cruz allowed his credibility to be seriously damaged during Iowa and Trump has exposed that to good effect.

Rubio is a no go zone for me. The others seem to have no way back but who knows after Super Tuesday.

Cruz (or his team) has demonstrably NOT been caught out lying. His Comms Director re-tweeted a tweet that carried a lie, and for that sin he got fired.

Cruz’ biggest mistake thus far has been to apologise. For anything. He should have told Trump to stop whining and pull on his big boy pants, and he should have told Carson if he didn’t want Cruz telling his precinct captains that Carson was going home after Iowa, he (Carson) shouldn’t have told CNN that.

Of the three, Rubio is the Democrat. Plain and simple. Elect Rubio and you get amnesty by lunch time.

Team Cruz sent out thousands of voter violation certificates, told voters that Carson was pulling out, told voters that Trump was anti 2nd Amendment and pro single payer without clarifying Trumps version of single payer. It is true.

Cruz is also beholding to lobbyists no question. Cruz is a disappointment to me. If Cruz manages to scam his way through there will be no demonstrable change in America. I want great change in the hope that it rubs off on us all down-under.

Well, I guess that’s one way to look at Cruz’ record. If you’re stoned or retarded. Or possibly both.

Every one of those allegations has been debunked, time and again.

The voter violation certificates are a common tactic which both Rubio AND the RNC (and the DNC) have employed on numerous occasions in numerous elections.

The Carson thing was as a result of a tweet that Carson’s own campaign manager sent out, which was then picked up and broadcast by CNN.

Trump in fact is on record as supporting the assault weapons ban (admittedly that was a long time ago).

And Trump has advocated universal healthcare (which by default is a single-payer system).

So often nothing gets done and the voters feel voiceless, so much so that Trump is really refreshing and so his flaws are being put aside.

America has never had a Trump style president. Even Reagan doesn’t come close to the skillset and contacts that Trump has to unleash.

He has a talented grounded family hard in behind him in mind and spirit as well. That is clear for all to see. That unity is resonating very strongly with grassroots America.

If elected Trump will not only be capable of finding ways to do the business but he will get it done. Its more important to his ego to be recorded in history as the greatest president than simply someone who was president.

That my friends is the Trump difference IMHO. He wants to go down in history as the man that saved America.

So, let me see if I have this straight.

For the past 7 years, America (actually, the world) has suffered under a thin-skinned, bloviating narcissist whose policies have led (as socialism always does) to poverty, misery and death.

And Conservative Republicans have complained since 1988 that they’ve not had a Conservative candidate to vote for. Well now they do, for the first time in a generation, have an opportunity to nominate a man whose Conservative credentials are unquestionable (let me know if you’d like me to give you a quick run-down of his bona fides).

And you’re telling me they’re going to be suckered by a thin-skinned, bloviating narcissist? A man who’s been a liberal Democrat his entire life? Who until recently supported the worst forms of abortion, an assault weapons ban, homosexual marriage? Who has donated large sums of money to and last week said he liked and could work with the worst of the liberal Democrats (Pelosi, Reid, Schumer) and who gave money to both the Clinton campaign AND the money-laundering foundation?

I guess there’s a reason they call the GOP the Stupid Party!

    http://www.infowars.com/top-bilderberger-global-super-elite-must-stop-donald-trump/

Regular Bilderberg attendee and associate editor of the Financial Times Martin Wolf insists that the “global super elite” must stop Donald Trump from winning the presidency.

According to a New Republic profile, Wolf is “staggeringly well-connected within the elite circles he is writing for” and counts amongst his close friends many influential central bankers.

In an editorial entitled The economic losers are in revolt against the elites, Wolf writes that economic “losers” have rejected “the elites that dominate the economic and cultural lives of their countries” and that “the potential consequences are frightening.”

Asserting that “it may already be too late” to stop the wave of populism that Trump has spearheaded, Wolf notes that elites have become, “detached from domestic loyalties and concerns, forming instead a global super-elite.”

This in turn has left ordinary Americans “alienated” and “abused,” with discord over high levels of immigration that only benefits big business leading to the view that elites are “incompetent and predatory.”

“Nativist populists must not win. We know that story: it ends very badly. In the case of the US, the outcome would have grave global significance. America was the founder and remains guarantor of our global liberal order. The world desperately needs well-informed US leadership. Mr Trump cannot provide this. The results could be catastrophic,” writes Wolf, adding that, “If western elites despise the concerns of the many, the latter will withdraw their consent for the elite’s projects.”

As we reported yesterday, Davos power brokers are intent on preventing Trump from capturing the White House, with prominent CEO Martin Sorrell asserting, “It doesn’t matter who the Republicans put up…Hillary will win.”

The Financial Times is the paper of record for the global elite and has been represented at Bilderberg confabs by several other individuals, including Gideon Rachman, who in 2008 called for an “global government” to be imposed.

In his editorial, Rachman admitted that such a system would only be effective if it is “anti-democratic” and promoted via “soothing language” that would prevent “people reaching for their rifles in America’s talk-radio heartland.”

More recently, the FT published an anonymous editorial which called for the abolition of cash in order to give central banks and governments more power.

    Why Trump?

The GOP establishment has been asking why Trump? They don’t understand why so many are supporting Trump. Why are a bunch of “childless single men who masturbate to anime” supporting “a philosophically unmoored political opportunist who would trash the broad conservative ideological consensus within the GOP in favor of a free-floating populism with strong-man overtones”?

    This article shows why:

The two officials described having conversations and asking which candidate a voter supports, whereupon the voter quickly glanced left and right, to see if it was OK to talk, and then said, “Trump.” That happens a lot, they told me.

Normal people in the US are having to look suspiciously around before voicing their public opinion.

The article barely mentions it, but I will repeat it:

Average Americans have to glance over their shoulders and make sure there are no hostile commissars around before they declare support for a mainstream political candidate. This is happening not in the USSR, but in the USA.

This is why we support Trump.

We fucking fear you and we fucking hate you.

Before we can speak candidly we working-to-middle-class white men have to quickly make sure no informants are around to rat us out. We have to be careful, because we know that one wrong word or action at work, in public, online, or even in the privacy of our own homes means losing our jobs and being publicly pilloried. It may even mean being persecuted by kangaroo courts, being bankrupted, or having your home raided by police.

We used to think the conservative machine had our back, that you would protect us from political correctness and left-wing pogroms. We working-to-middle class white men are your base, we thought you’d fight for us us. Maybe you’d let a nazi or two twist in the wind, but you’d at least have our backs. But now we’re the nazis for simply advocating what the people who beat the nazis did.

You don’t have our backs. Instead, you sneer at working-class whites. You call us, your fucking base, illiterate, crazy, and stupid. You attack us, the people you supposedly represent, as racist, the same slur leftists use against us to destroy our lives (and against you to score political points, but your heads are too far up your own asses to see the irony of that). You deride us and sneer at us at every turn.

But you aren’t even content to sneer at us. Instead, you traitorous bastards attack and mock us as cowards for writing anonymously because we don’t want to lose our jobs and be the subject of a national two minute hate. Not once did any of you even wonder why your base, the people you supposedly represent, have to hide behind pseudonyms and proxies simply to talk openly about politics. Instead, you insulted us for not wanting to lose our jobs.

We support Trump because we now know that you’re just like the leftists. You have shown repeatedly you do not have our backs, you hate us just as much as the progressives. You will run us out of jobs, you will engage in the public shaming, and when the time comes, you will happily march us to reeducation camps.

We fear you and we hate you and the media complex you represent and support. And Trump, it appears he’s standing up for us against you. He has the will and the money to speak where we can’t without becoming impovershed and publicly shamed. He can frog-march newsmen (ie: the leftist witch-hunters) out of rooms and insult them to their face, we’re we’d just be burned at the figurative stake. He’s willing to attack leftists, instead of fawning all over them to get invited to swanky DC parties. He’s opening the conversation so that we have slight bit more room to breathe without being purged from society. Through him normal folks have an outlet to speak. He’s standing against those who are trying to destroy us.

We don’t fucking care about your “conservative principles” of hating Russia (the only major power fighting degeneracy and supporting the church), amnesty for invading illegals, corporate subsidies, homosexual marriage, slightly lower taxes, increased debt, and minor hedges of Obamacare. We don’t care if Trump hasn’t been ideologically pure; you didn’t when you forced Romney(care) and amnesty McCain on us. We don’t care if he doesn’t fit in the ever-more-left overton window. We don’t care if his Christian convictions are superficial (it’s been 40 years and you’ve done shit all about Roe, not to mention you’ve done nothing to prevent Christians from having their businesses destroyed by kangaroo courts). We don’t care if he gave money to Democrats a decade ago (y’all keep importing new voters for them).

We don’t care and why should we when we are living in a country barely above a crowd-sourced communist police state, we are being culturally genocided, our jobs and our future are disappearing, and we are killing ourselves in despair at record numbers?

We don’t care. Trump is fighting for us (or at least acting like he is, but nobody since Ron Paul has even pretended to care about the white middle). We don’t trust your party, we don’t trust your democracy, we don’t trust you, because you have done nothing but betray us.

Trump is rich beyond anything we can comprehend. He could spend the rest of his life drinking champagne from crystal glasses and snorting coke off high-class call-girls’ breasts at his own personal beach-side mansion if he wanted. Instead, he’s spending mounds of his own money and taking the hatred of the entire political-media-bureaucrat class upon himself to fight. Meanwhile, you guys are paid to fight and all you do is fold and compromise.

Trump is absolutely right that he “could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and [not] lose voters.” In fact, it could win him voters. This is how much we hate and we fear you: if he took the media class, lined you all up on your knees along 5th Ave and personally put a 9mm in the back of each of your heads, he’d get cheers. Almost nobody would sympathize with you because we know you’d sit by contentedly watching while the left dragged us into the street, if you didn’t join in yourselves to prove you’re not racists (and fail, again, like always).

You are the ones engaging in witch hunts against us. You are the ones driving us from our jobs. You are the ones selling our country out. You are the reason we have to look over our shoulders before we speak. You are the ones destroying our culture. You are the ones bringing in hordes of foreigners to murder us and replace us.

Maybe he won’t follow through. In fact, I doubt Trump will make a difference. Maybe the wall gets built, maybe it won’t. Maybe Muslim immigration won’t be stopped, maybe he won’t change the stifling political culture, maybe he’ll work with leftists. But with you it is not a maybe, we know that you will cave as soon as the leftists call you names and we know you will betray us. You had the chance to pull the trigger on the government machine and you pussied out like the pathetic mewling quislings you are. Trump may change his mind, he may betray us, but he won’t pussy out.

And if he does change his mind, so be it. Better a chance at success than the surety of failure you represent. At the very least, we will get to see Trump beat you, mock you, and humiliate you. At the very least he will tear apart the corrupt, weak GOP machine and show the “convservative” media machine for the quislings they are. Your tears alone are making supporting him worth it. He probably won’t accomplish anything beyond destroying you, but destroying you is worth it in itself.

The country is disappearing, freedom is dying, and our trust is gone. Trump is our hail mary, because we know if nothing is done, we will, at best, be forced to check around for commissars for the rest of our lives.

If you don’t want Trump, then do your jobs. Stand up for us, defend us. If the GOP establishment showed half as much hatred and derision for the leftists attacking us as you do for us, your base, if you spent half as much effort stopping leftists as you are stopping Trump, there would be no Trump. If somebody would actually stand up for us, common people wouldn’t have to flock to the only man who is willing.

The day of reckoning draws near. Repent your betrayal now before its too late, so it can be avoided.

    Until then, viva la Trump!
