Yep, when will their leaders show some guts and resign I wonder?

That’s a bloody great result from the Conservatives, especially given the media blackout and the short time they’ve been around.
As for the Libz–their “leaders” won’t resign, because the party is little more than a hobby and an ego-prop for them.

Colin Craig needs to ensure that he now becomes a known ‘face’ – he must get onto every TV program, talk to every journalist, speak at dinners, etc – and work towards the next election. He needs to crystalise his Party’s Manifesto, get some marketable candidates, and educate NZ about them…….because the press sure are not going to do it for him.
He also needs to get away from the ‘Christian fundamentalist’ label and push the social and fiscal conservative theme.

Agree with you mawm
Rang the local CP candidate last week and was very impressed with him.Highly qualified and knew his stuff.
But the electorate had no idea.

A good result for them. Got two ticks from me. Unfortunately Australia is calling- almost twice as many who bothered to show up put CP ahead of Racists.
My money will still be used against me, perhaps at even more alarming rate now.
So many people see through Key, and yet here we are again.

The CP got more than any two of the other non-Parliamentary parties combined, and twice as many as ACT and the Apartheid Party. Whale has started his antiConservative campaign for 2014 already. It seems the Conservative have given the Nat machine the shits – how much more Return On Investment would the quisling Key have got from a cup of tea in Whangaparaoa than all-but wasting his $8 in Newmarket?

Indeed, Red – the CP got two ticks from me. And I believe this shows that a significant minority of Kiwis still hold to Judeo-Christian principles and values [whether or not they’re ” ‘Christian fundamentalist’ ” like me, Mawm], and believe that a successful society relies on so much more than just being fiscally conservative.
Without a strong moral [some might say Christian] and family-centred society then the Soclialists, Islamists and atheistic liberals like the Farrars of the world will overrun this nation. Fundamentalist Christians [no aplologies here, Mawm] and other morally right-minded people need to get behind the Conservative Party; promote it for the next three years, and make sure it has a large impact come next election. As far as I’m concerned it’s the only voice in the wilderness, and the only genuine choice if we want to turn this nation around and regain freedom, liberty, and a moral family-centric society.
The alternative doesn’t bear thinking about …

A very good result for the CP given it is a new party. The media and others will try to downplay its success but I think NZ FIRST doing so well in spite of the media promoting the idea that NZ FIRST did not have a chance proves that not all voters listen to the media. The CP need to spend the next 2 years building a solid policy platform and getting in front of people, media be damned.

Kris – I will not vote for a Christian fundamentalist party. You know what I think about a non-secularism.
Have you ever wondered why the Dems get the Jewish vote when every GOP politician has to declare his Christianity and where he stands on abortion to be electable. It is just plain short sighted (actually stupid) to exclude groups with the same social and fiscal principles, apart from being down right arrogant to think that your set of principles are the only ones to live by. Here in NZ we have many non-Christian Indians and Chinese who have conservative values. Why alienate them from the outset? There are also many practising Christians who have no discernable values at all and who think that attending church on Sunday morning allows them to be, well, un-Christian the rest of the week.
Besides the atheistic socialist media will use it to denigrate and destroy the party just as Helen and her MSM hand-maidens did with the Nats over the EB.

I ran with Farrar’s ‘winners and losers’ theme – ie that non-Maori New Zealanders [among others] are the REAL losers.

The trouble is, Mawm, one gets the impression you would not vote for a party that has ANY member who professes to be a Christian. I consider myself a ‘Christian fundamentalist’ – one who takes the fundamentals of Christianity seriously – and your use of that term comes across as you alienating Christians, rather than the reverse. It also comes across as you denying that the West, by and large, is founded upon Judeo-Christian principles, and the God and faith behind those principles. And IMO the West divorcing itself from the God of the Bible is the MAIN reason the enemies of freedom and liberty have the ascendant hand. And to that extent you help them in their cause.

FFS people. The Conservative Party isn’t some new version of Destiny! Colin Craig is not a megalomaniacal nutcase like Brian Tamaki. Yes, the Conservative Party has many members who profess to be Christians. So do a number of the other parties. Look at the policy platform. There’s nothing in there about religious intrusion. It’s all about trying to stop, and roll back, the left’s vicious attack on the family, on liberty and on individual responsibility.
Anyone who didn’t vote for the Conservatives because they thought they were a ‘fundy’ Christian party is as half-witted and ill-informed as those who vote for the watermelons because they think they’re an ‘environmental’ party!!!!!! Grrrr

mawm,
Interesting comment about the Jewish Democratic vote. I think surveys show that religious Jews tend to vote Republican. Thing is that many Jews ,while identified along religious grounds ie Jewish are not religious at all, they are in fact progressive liberal and that’s why they vote Democrat.
Religion and politics are a funny thing.
I know alot of people who claim to be Catholic but they support Labour/Democrats….to my mind that’s extraordinary. So they support those parties based on their left wing politics rather than their religious princples. Actually the pair of Blairs are a prime example and the the Kennedys are another.
Too bad the Inquisition is over. They would have been perfect candidates for “rendition” to old Castile.

Kowtow – I personaly do not make any connection between political party and religious beliefs. If the principles of the party are the same as mine, I’ll consider voting for it……not the religion of the politician. BTW I use the term “Jewish” in the sense of how they identify themselves.
KrisK – you keep on rabbiting on about your religion and Judeo-Christian principles……and then have the temerity to make crass assumptions about me. You do not know anything about my religious beliefs, and I have never critisized the Judeo-Christian West. Quite honestly I actually prefer people who make principled thoughtful arguments of their own to someone who has to quote out of context and convoluted pieces of Bible instead. The indoctrination of people who behave like this is frighteningly similar to the brainwashed Islamists.

Mawm, you were the one who started throwing around labels IIRC [eg ‘Christian fundamentalist’] in your stating that, “He [Colin Craig] also needs to get away from the ‘Christian fundamentalist’ label and push the social and fiscal conservative theme.”
Why should a Christian be expected to divorce themselves from the very thing that largely shapes their world-view and values system? – whether that be in their role as politician, parent, businessman, or as a citizen? Individuals are an amalgum by definition. You need to sort out who the real enemy is, Mawm, and having done that get with the programme.
Friendly advice and not a Bible verse in sight.

You know Kris, you can have your Christian Fundamentalist Party anytime you want…………it will never ever become anything. Colin Craig has an opprtunity to have a conservative voice in Parliament but, in my opinion, which I expressed, he has no chance if he is labeled “Christian Fundamentalist”. You on the other hand behave like a effing immature twat anytime anyone even hints at something you think is anti Christian. No eff off and go and read your Bible.

Mawm, when did I ever say I advocated for a “Christian Fundamentalist Party”? – more aspersions on your part. And the only person around here who is labelling Colin Craig a “Christian Fundamentalist” is you [not that there’s anything wrong with that of course – except in YOUR head]. And based on your last comment I would have to say the only person around here who has thrown his rattle out of the play-pen is you.
I’ll go read my Bible if you promise to take your heart medication – I’m beginning to become genuinely concerned for you physical wellbeing after your last little outburst. Chill out, bud – it’s Sunday afterall 😉
