Newt Gingrich was the man once. He’s far from it today. He’s cheated on numerous wives, and some people claim he’s betrayed many of the principles he once stood firm on. He is reported to have made the following statement during his address to a recent forum on Latino issues.
“We are not going to deport 11 million people, there has to be some zone between deportation and amnesty.”
Well, hard for me to imagine what that zone may be. Sounds to me more like Newt is throwing out a vote catcher for the Latino demographic. Any 2012 presidential contender will need the support of immigrant voters if he wants to win. Of course the claim is transparent rubbish. You won’t need to deport 11 million. (in fact the number is probably closer to 40 million) Take away the incentives and the illegal immigrants will find their own way home.
Here’s what I reckon needs to be done-
1) Seal the border with Mexico.
2) Take away government benefits for recent arrivals.
3) Prosecute employers of illegals.
4) No more anchor babies.
5) Votes for US born of US parents only.
As for those who claim that Newt is right, that its impossible to deport millions of illegals, I suggest you look up Operation Wetback. (an Eisenhower initiative) Go away Newt.
