Where is National’s Agenda?

When writing the post on Helen Clark’s communist connections this morning, I referenced a very perspicacious article by Bernard Moran that listed the Labour Party’s agenda for whatever period they could hold on to power. Regretfully, that period turned out to be nine years. They were able to implement that agenda, and it was a telling blow to the ongoing development of civilisation in this country. IMHO, we have since degenerated to a level of barbarity not before witnessed in NZ.

It suddenly made me think though- where the hell is National’s agenda? Where is their plan for restoring NZ? Where is their bullet point list setting out goals and objectives as plainly and simply as Moran set out the goals of the Labour Party back in 1999. I haven’t seen one. I don’t think one exists. I don’t think the ideologically bankrupt National Party could even come up with one.

I’d like to be proved wrong. If anyone knows of such a list, or can direct me to where one might exist, I’d be pleased to issue a correction. It should comply with National’s stated “principles”-

The New Zealand National Party is the Party for New Zealanders who:

  • wish to protect families, communities and businesses from those seeking to use high taxes, and onerous restrictions to impose their political agendas;
  • want freedom to hold their own views in a society tolerant of differences;
  • support social arrangements that reinforce a sense of personal and family responsibility, and in return expect economic and social policies to deliver a decent standard of living with opportunities and rewards for all;
  • believe in an open, competitive economy, driven by the private sector and valuing individual effort and initiative;
  • seek security for themselves and their children through access to quality education and health services
  • support for those in need of help
  • an effective police force and justice system
  • active participation in the international community.

Actually, looking at those “principles”, its a damn watery document ain’t it? Just what you would expect from a party so damn devoid of guts.

Mr. Moran’s article with his list of Labour Party objectives is here.

    Yegods! I’d mark them with a failing grade on every one of those principles. And even then, the principles themselves don’t come close to articulating what ails NZ and a plan to fix it.

    The answer is nowehere to be found. National under the socialist Key has betrayed all its founding principles.

    Despite that Key remains as popular as ever. Figure that out. It does speak volumes for the level of intelligence of the New Zeaand public.

    We are fucked as a nation.

    The principles are fine…….is applied staunchly. The problem is that we have a Presidential-style leader of the Party rather than a Prime Minister.
