Aussie expat suing UK employer over ‘racist’ comments [Scamming Aussie alert]

An Australian working in the UK is suing his employer over his colleagues’ allegedly racist comments mocking his nationality, the Daily Mail reported. Geoff Stephens, a community warden, has lived in Britain for 26 years, yet the 48-year-old claimed his colleagues regularly make jokes about kangaroos, greet him with “G’day, sport” and ask, “Is your girlfriend called Sheila?” The Adelaide native said he has been taking a “cocktail of antidepressants” to deal with the constant abuse from his coworkers in Dymchurch, a Kent County village about 112 km southeast of London. “I’ve only been able to sleep for three hours a night since August, and the physical and mental exhaustion will eventually kill me,” he said, according to the Daily Mail. PM go and ‘let the Muslims take over’ [do me a favour mate, bring it on..!]

ISLAMIC preacher Ibrahim Siddiq-Conlon points heavenwards to emphasise his message for the governments of Australia — there is no God but Allah and only his laws should be obeyed. “My attack is on the Prime Minister of Australia,” he said yesterday. “I hate the parliament in Canberra. I want to go straight for the jugular vein and advise the parliament that they have no right to legislate. They should immediately step down and let the Muslims take over.” An Australian-born convert to Islam, Siddiq-Conlon is the self-anointed leader of a group called Sharia4Australia, which is pushing for the introduction of sharia courts as a first step towards achieving Islamic law. “One day Australia will live under sharia; it’s inevitable,” he said. “If they (Australians) don’t accept it, that’s not our problem. We hope, and our objective is to have a peaceful transition, but when you look at history that has never been the case. There’s always been a fight. It is inevitable that one day there will be a struggle for Islam in Australia.” Source.

The DNC wants Huckabee for 2012[Yeah well, we already knew that didn’t we?]

They call him Glass Jaw and if they have their way he will be the 2012 Republican nominee for President. Who are they? They are Obama’s team. Who is Glass Jaw. That’s Mike Huckabee. Do they have the power to make it happen? According to Axelrod the Obama campaign brought McCain back from the political graveyard by having the media push McCain. McCain was the Obama’s team dream candidate in 2008. Axlerod said the media took their marching orders directly from him. Looks like they are doing it again. Bad Polls Palin , Good polls Huckabee.Source.

Students fail to improve their thinking, study finds [Of course. Not really why they go there is it?]

MORE than a third of students are going through university and failing to learn additional thinking skills, choosing instead to take easy subjects and enjoy the social life, according to a ground-breaking US study. The finding has direct implications for Australian universities with the Gillard government planning to subject them to new measures of teaching performance to ensure it get its money’s worth after funding more places. In an embarrassing finding for US universities, a study of test results on the critical, analytical and communication skills of 2300 undergraduate students found that after two years of college 45 per cent couldn’t demonstrate any significant improvement. And little further was gained after four years with 36 per cent still failing to show significant improvement. Source.

Fox News Least Trusted? PBS Most Trusted?[Scamming pollsters alert]

Huffington Post had a glorious headline: “Fox News Most Distrusted Name In News: Poll.” I found that totally unbelievable, so I did some digging. Interestingly, though not surprising, I found some information that gave me to pause. Incidentally, the pollsters had a more “positive” spin on the headline-theirs simply said “PBS Most Trusted Name In News” The Pollsters, Public Policy Polling, seemed innocuous enough, but the poll didn’t make sense, since I remembered gleefully posting to my facebook page last year, the same poll clearly showed Fox was the most trusted. The current poll clearly states they polled “Voters” — 632 of them in fact between January 14 and 16 this year. However the margin of error is high, a full 3.9% with additional disclaimers for refusal to answer questions by those they tried to poll, and for “weighting.” Now, anyone who took stats in college knows that in polling, the only legit weighting is when there is refusal to answer questions, so I naturally became suspicious! Vint Cerf’s message to Australia: internet censorship isn’t effective[Gillard ain’t listening]

JULIA Gillard’s bid to censor the internet is not an “effective move”, says Vint Cerf, one of the founding fathers of the internet and Google’s chief web evangelist. Dr Cerf’s advice is to attack the source of a problem at the production layer, instead of focusing on the distribution layer. The federal government wants to force every ISP to filter websites rated with a refused classification tag, in accordance with a secret government blacklist. Source.
