Republicans Cancel Obama’s Climate Legislation: Subtitle- Wake Up Nick Smith

The Supreme Court ruled in 2007 that the EPA has authority to regulate greenhouse gases under the Clean Air Act, but it wasn’t until the Obama administration took office that the effort began. The Environmental Protection Agency constructed a regulatory framework designed to impose punishments upon US industries emitting greenhouse gases. Obama was pleased with the outcome given that such regulations were one of his priorities.

FOX News- In a statement posted on its website late last year, the EPA announced it is moving unilaterally to clamp down on power plant and oil refinery greenhouse emissions, announcing plans for developing new standards over the next year. EPA administrator Lisa Jackson said the aim was to better cope with pollution contributing to climate change.

However it’s not going to be that easy for Obama or his ideology driven goons at the EPA. As we all know, the Democrats lost control of the house in the half term elections, and the Republicans have introduced a bill designed to roll back Obama’s legislation and stop the EPA from implementing the regulations they produced.

the bill would nullify all of the steps the EPA has taken to date on the issue, including a threshold finding that greenhouse gases constitute a danger to the public health and welfare. In addition, it seeks to strip the agency of its authority to use the law in any future attempts to crack down on the emissions from factories, utilities and other stationary sources.

The Republicans are finally confronting the left and their climate change mania in a way they should have been challenged years ago. Meanwhile, here in NZ we are stuck with Nick Smith and his Blue Greens doing the Obama/ Democrat thing, and John Key and the rest of the cabinet too dull and wet and transfixed by watermelon propaganda to do anything to stop him.

No chance these lamers could learn from the Republicans. Then, it took the Tea Party too to wake up the Republicans. Nevertheless surely someone somewhere in National has the balls to call Smith on his lunacy, on the grounds that the redistributive ideas that underpin the climate change scam are completely contrary to National Party founding principles. (Then again, if they started applying that criterion, almost everything the spineless lamers do would qualify.)

Smith should be stripped of his portfolio and banished from the party. If he wants to run again in Nelson he should run as an independent or for the Labour party. His ideas on climate change put him too far to the left to be part of any political party claiming to be center right.

  1. A bit late to wish for Smith’s dismissal. By now he’s one of Key’s favourite ministers, who himself has become a believer in global warming.

    We are fucked!

  2. Attempts to bring National back to its founding principles are a complete waste of time IMHO – such attempts would be about as successful as trying to reform Islam.

The ONLY cure is the establishing of a NZ Tea Party; one founded upon strong Judeo-Christian principles and values. And of course we need a NZ ‘Sarah Palin’ to head it.

  3. I heard that Barry will veto any bill the Republicans introduce that dicks with his climate change bullshit. They estimate that the average American family will need to find $3100 a year to pay for Barry’s wet dream, should go down like a shower of shit in the present economic conditions. Meanwhile “Smith should be stripped of his portfolio”, fuck, understatement of the year, I can think of a few other things the arsehole should be stripped of, his portfolio being the very least. Smith and his fallow con artists are full of shit, climate change is the scapegoat. I would like to know how much of this fucking EFS actually goes on the purpose it was designed for. Picking most goes into the “consolidated fund” and disappears down the shit house like most of the wealth in this joint.
