Consequently, the media are in panic mode and will mobilize their inventory of maledictions to sink the candidacy of the woman they fear in order to buttress the fortunes of the man they adore. Their offensive could not be more, well, offensive. The moral filth of the New York Times and MSNBC, for example, among many other similar outlets in the MSM and the blogosphere, is enough to repel anyone who looks for even a modicum of decency in the conduct of the press. To target Palin for her convictions and selected aspects of her demeanor while giving Obama a Get Out of Jail Free card and airbrushing the Democratic crowd of warts and blotches — for example, the innumerable gaffes of Joe Biden, the imbecilities of Nancy Pelosi, the catatonia of Janet Napolitano, or the zingers of Obama himself—is the epitome of bad faith. Intellectually, the media are quite frankly out to lunch; politically, as is increasingly evident, they function as a fifth column in league with the American left, which is intent on transforming the country into something it was never meant to be. And this is precisely what Palin understands.
She is among a minority of prominent public figures who grasp that America is arguably facing the most relentless and insidious enemy in its recent history. This new enemy is far more inimical to its survival as a coherent and sovereign entity than the Axis powers and the Soviet communists were, since it works from within, is uncompromising in its purposes despite whatever defeats it may suffer, and ironically relies upon the very wealth and power it seeks to destroy, which gives it a decided edge in so ectopic a conflict.

Agree with much of what is posted here. I think Sarah Palin has got heaps from the local media most of which is unjustified. The fact that they sent investigators up to Alaska when her candidacy for president was announced tells us something. That the mainstream media did not reciprocate with candidate Obama also says something.
I think the other issue is the deep division in America. For example Liberal women in the media just cannot stand Sarah Palin. And a deep gut level they just cannot abide her. Is it the lifestyle she leads? She is a mother married to the same man who has fathered all her children. She chose not to abort her last child even though he was diagnosed with down syndrome. She is an evangelical Christian. Perhaps that’s why they can’t abide her? She is a rebuke to progressive liberalism.
It seems a shame that a Christian, pro life, wife and mother, should attract so much distaste and scorn from the media.
The other issue I think is that she comes from Alaska and has an Alaskan accent. To the media elites she seems somewhat provincial. So it is possible that some of the media scorn is simply snobbery.
And I think the columnist is right. Much of the media attack is just protecting their guy. Obama is the one that gets them excited. Chris Matthews still gets a thrill up his leg when Obama speaks. Obama is a progressive liberal who may well be Christian, but never lets his Christianity get in the way of supporting the progressive agenda. So he is 100% for abortion, he supports big government liberalism, he supports the homosexual agenda and governs like a secular liberal. So the secular liberals of the mainstream media love him. They on the other hand do not love his opponents, even the photogenic and competent Sarah Palin.

First The loony right accuses him of being a member of a radical christian church under Rev. Wright and when that proved to be LEGLESS, Obama is accused of NOT being a christian at all…..I’d say make UP your mind, but this is mindLESS.

Replying to DEO — I said “Obama may well be a Christian”. So just to clarify further — I am granting that he is a Christian. I am also granting — Redbaiter and I would disagree on this — that he is a legitimate United States citizen born in Hawaii.
The difficulty I have is that his Christianity does not interfere with his secular progressivism. He appears to want to run with the hares and hunt with the hounds. So while worshipping Jesus he is also an abortion extremist. He has never once voted for any restriction whatever on any abortion at any time and at any place.
For a Christian not to have a conscience on this, the plight of the innocent unborn child, seems to me extraordinary. So I think he makes a mistake by trying to be a private Christian and govern like a secular liberal. To be a Christian means that your world view and your faith in Christ needs to inform every area of your life — including the way you govern.
By the way the charge that he was a member of a radical church under Rev Wright is certainly not baseless. The good reverend’s stance on Amerika is well-known and a matter of public record. Indeed once the nature of Reverend Wright’s church came out Obama publicly distanced himself from his spiritual mentor of 20 years, the better to win the upcoming presidential election.
Regarding Sarah Palin “charge after charge” — you have things completely wrong. It is the mainstream media and the Democratic party that has hurled out charge after charge against her character, against her ability to govern, against her knowledge of geography etc etc.
Most recently they tried to blame her for the shooting of the Congresswoman, charging that Sarah Palin had instigated a climate of hate. Just another baseless accusation in the long line of liberal smears against her. So that is not what Sarah Palin does, it is what others do to her.

Both Granny Herald and Auntie BBC are fingered.
In the Internet age, we bloggers and readers must monitor them.
We should put the MSM on notice.
