Y’know how enviromorons are flat out giving taxpayer funded “subsidies” for the installation of approved additions to your home that are perceived as environmentally friendly? Like solar panels for instance. Well, just watch yourself. As with most deals with the devil, it might not turn out as you expect. The cold wins of financial reality are blowing strong these days, and the cash just ain’t there for these absurd pie in the sky ideas.
The citizens of Washington DC for example are in real trouble. Thinking a big fat subsidy was available, they purchased and installed the panels only to discover the subsidies could not be paid as promised because… the Department of Environment had run out of money..!!
Dozens of District residents who installed solar panels on their homes under a government grant program promoting renewable energy have been told they will not be reimbursed thousands of dollars as promised because the funds were diverted to help close a citywide budget gap.
In all, the city has reneged on a commitment of about $700,000 to 51 residents, according to the D.C. Department of the Environment. The agency has pledged to try to find money in next year’s budget, its director, Christophe Tulou, said.
“It just doesn’t seem fair to go through a process with them and have them make investments in solar panels under the assumption they would be reimbursed,” Tulou acknowledged. “It’s really sad we are having these economic woes when we are.”
Works out to about $14000 per citizen. This is pretty sad really. I dunno why I’m struggling to suppress the urge to smile.

With the massive shale gas deposits which recently have become avaiable for extraction they should have immeaditely ended all subsidies for all forms of energy… The game changed…

Perhaps the only redeeming feature of this whole story is those who installed solar panels were stupid enough to vote left. These people sound a lot like our beloved Melons, solar power, yes, wind power, yes, now all we need is some dumb prick to pay for it.
