The Hill is reporting that a ceremony to present Obama with an award for his dedication to government transparency has been postponed because of clashes within his appointment schedule. The Drudge report has already made cynical references to the award and many other outlets are expressing similar disdain. For myself, I think this is just one more indication of what an Orwellian world we live in.

Just found out that the real reason the ceremony has been postponed is because it has been decided that the award should be a joint occasion, and Obama’s flunkies are flat out re-organising the event so the following awards of comparable stature can simultaneously take place-

• Charlie Sheen to receive Mental Health award.
• Bernie Madoff to receive Financial Integrity award.
• Bill Clinton to receive Marital Fidelity award.
