Tau Henare- Police Should Charge The Horn Blower

I am annoyed by drivers who shorten the space I hold in front of me (in case of the need to stop quickly), by darting into that space in an attempt to make ground in traffic.

But on the numerous occasions when it occurs, I don’t blast them with my car horn. In fact I can’t remember when I last used a car horn.

The NZ Herald is reporting some woman driver has issued a complaint to not only the Police but the Prime Minister on a driving incident involving Tau Henare-

A furious Auckland mum has complained to the Prime Minister and police after an “abusive and degrading” driving incident involving National MP Tau Henare. Cicelia Holliday told the Herald she was “absolutely gobsmacked” by the incident and wants Mr Henare to be called to account for his behaviour. Yesterday, Mrs Holliday emailed a written complaint to John Key and mailed a second letter to police national headquarters.

She said she was driving with her 12-year-old daughter along Ash St in Avondale just after 10.30am last Thursday when a car in the lane beside her suddenly pulled in front of her without indicating the lane change. “I reacted by quickly blaring my horn to draw attention to the fact that they had created a ‘near miss’,” she wrote to Mr Key.

“I noticed the driver give me the finger though the driver’s window and I couldn’t quite believe it. Then he gave me the finger through the rear window with his left hand.”

Well, that’s what happen when you unnecessarily blast people with your car horn, a device only to be used in an emergency. “Indicating a near miss” doesn’t cut it. We only have the woman’s opinion that it was a near miss anyway. Henare’s actions could have been quite acceptable to a skilled driver.

“abusive and degrading???” Get a life woman.

This seems to me to be a case of some petulant liberal woman who probably can’t drive anyway, over-reacting and escalating a pretty commonplace driving event into a major issue by blasting on her horn. If I was the cops, I’d dismiss the spiteful complaint against Henare and charge the woman with using her horn unnecessarily, as this appears to be the only part of the event that is a clear and proven breach of the law. Cecelia admits doing it. She rants on-

“What gives Mr Henare the idea that he is entitled to drive as he pleases? Does being a National MP and driving around in an Audi splashed with National Party colours entitle him to special treatment … be rude to other road users, ignore road rules and endanger others on the road? Is he better and more important than others?”

Oh.. uh huh.. he was driving an Audi.. that does it then.. 🙂 FFs…!!!. Key should bin the shallow and jealous woman’s vindictive letter without comment.

(Edit- I’m no particular fan of Tau Henare.)

No Red you have it all wrong. She was offended by Henare’s actions*. Her human rights were breached. She needs compensation and counseling.

As well as that, and I dont mean to generalize, but Audi drivers are all Wankers so it’s really no surprise Tau Henare drives one.

    * why she would choose to be offended by his driving rather than the fact that despite being rejected 4 times by the good people of Te Atatu he still finds a place at the trough for his snout speaks volumes about just how rooted is my homeland.

Isn’t it just a normal days driving in the land of the Jafa.
And she’s a National party supporter. Of cause she is
Because if she was a Green or a Labour (That is if you can find one). Would be taking the train
    or the Bus.

According to WOBH she’s a serial whiner whose been doing this for a while. Some of these precious, delicate souls should experience driving in China, Mexico or Thailand where you get cut up and pulled in front of all the time and no one gives a shit. In fact, in China the horn is the “lookout I’m a comin’ thru” indication device

Yep, to give Slater his due, he does the visceral take-down better than pretty much anyone.

There’s an early warning of the sinister here.
In Victoria your subjective “offence” is ground for a prosecution under “hate speech” law.
Causing “offence” is a stand alone reason to proscribe speech in Victoria.

Appeals Courts have struck down the prosecution of two fundy Pastors who accurately quoted the Koran to their congregations (ie in Church) and were charged by the State.
The State will try again, it sees no other way to shut down discussion of 3rd world immigration.

“Offence” is destined to become a powerful weapon of control for the totalitarian left

Let’s see how the comrades cope with the coming Wilders tour, if they are unsuccessful at preventing his visa application that is.

Sika, Mark Steyn mentions the Andrew Bolt travesty specifically in his article this week

    Sika and Gantt ,
The NZ Human Rigts act 1993 ( National I suppose) includes “insulting” material,so being rude in NZ can be a crime. It’s just a matter of time before it’s used. And that Steyn article is exactly about this type of thing and very frightening indeed.

I note the reaction to Wilders and how he is called “extreme”. They seek to frame and control the debate. Since when was it extreme to want to protect your country and culture from destruction?
Speaking of our culture and governments i was doing a little research and came across this on a Oz govt website. Why am I not surprised that the only religious group given a specifically positive sentence is Islam?

    I disagree.

If Tau Henare did nothing wrong, he should have just ignored her. But doing what he did indicates a lack of self control and manners and would have been very intimidating towards the woman. Hardly the type of person who should be in Parliament.

    Lucia,
    No one is defending Henare.
The issue is the woman’s response to “feeling” wronged – whether that be her perception of being cut off, the follow-up response to her leaning on the horn, or the fact that it was an MP driving an Audi who did the above. And whether her response was over the top in bringing in the police, not to mention the PM.

Good grief, we’ve all been “cut off”, and had someone give us “the finger” when they were in the wrong, but we don’t go and tattle tail to the cops and the PM just because our fragile ego may have been bruised (well most of us, anyway).

Not that her sounding the horn and getting angry over what is a common occurrence in city traffic indicates a lack of self control on her part?
I loathe Henare–he’s one of the lowest forms of life imaginable. But the woman needs to get a life.

I don’t think it was “the finger” that she’s protesting against – it would have been him winding down the window and having an argument with her at the traffic lights. What type of person does that? I’d be worried, if it happened to me, that there could be a full on road rage incident (though, I’d ignore anyone that tried to have a shouting match with me through a car window at the traffic lights, and then make sure they don’t follow me, not that this has ever happened).

Red, not in hindsight. Some people are also a little too liberal with the horn.

Most of the time when I’ve been blasted (in the year or so after I got my full licence) I took each event as a learning experience and am grateful to those drivers who did use their horns. It’s much better to know when your actions might cause problems to another driver than to be totally oblivious.

FYI, Geert Wilders is coming to Australia (hope I get to see him speak).

Of course, the tards are out already…the MSM calling him “anti-Islam” (pretty accurate, but there’s more to him than that) and “islamophobic” (what an insulting term. He’s demonstrated by his actions he’s not ‘phobic’ of – i.e. afraid of – islam. The MSM on the other hand?). Tony Abbott showing his true colour (yellow) on the issue as well.
