NZ Herald Reporter John Drinnan Gets It Wrong

The odious leftist Julia Gillard, under the urging of the equally repulsive watermelon Bob Brown, is attempting to muzzle the Australian newspaper by means of a Stalinist “inquiry” into the media. John Drinnan writes about it today in the NZ Herald, and in doing so he repeats a common untruth that the left (especially Bob Brown) frequently use to try and give their criticism of Rupert Murdoch’s News Ltd more legitimacy. Drinnan writes-

Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation owns 70 per cent of Australian newspapers and there has long been criticism about its political influence.

This is rubbish. Murdoch only owns about 32% of the newspaper publishing companies in Australia, but because those newspapers are more popular, they capture about 70% of the market. News Ltd just sells more newspapers, end of story. The left wing Fairfax newspapers, (like the Melbourne Age) are full of Marxist dross, and struggle to maintain the market share they do have.

Gillard and Brown wouldn’t give a damn if the far left Fairfax group was in News Ltd’s position. The inquiry is just another example of left wing politicians trying to limit freedom of political expression, and muzzle criticism of their corrupt and destructive ideology. They’ve done such things throughout history.

Its always the left’s intent to control all information, and endlessly shove their stinking Marxist propaganda down our throats. In an open market they can’t survive. As the dire financial position of the Melbourne Age so aptly demonstrates.

John Drinnan is one of the few journalists at the NZ Herald with more than a modicum of ability. Pity he can’t get his facts right.
