This “apologising” thing has got out of hand. The sentiment these days seems to be that you can say and do anything you like, and then as long as you “apologise” at some later time, its all OK. Its got to the stage where even such bizarre events as apologies for rape and or murder are given credibility.
Don Brash is today seen apologising for blindsiding Epsom candidate John Banks with Brash’s rash statements on the decriminalisation of cannabis. Its notable that Brash has not said his ideas were wrong, only that he regretted not discussing the issue with Banks before hand.
Too late. The damage is done. Its not something that an apology could fix, and it only compounds the problem. ACT now look even more like a pack of political galahs. The right thing to do would be to fire Brash, however its too close to the election. His advisers can be fired though, and that should happen forthwith.
Leaving Brash’s idiotic behaviour aside, here is how you fix ACT. You get the entire membership into a room, and you draw a line on the floor. You then ask all of the Libertarians to stand on one side of the line, and the non Libertarians on the other. You then tell all of those on the Libertarian side to go back to their own damn party where they can navel gaze about drugs (and homosexuality) to their heart’s content.
The remaining people in the room can then get on with making ACT a real political party concerned with real political issues. As it once was, before it become infiltrated by these misguided self described “liberals”, mostly confused and mentally unstable mungbeans from the Libertarians or of other far left origins. ACT is a house divided, and therefore useless as a political force.

Exactly right. And notice always more often than not they are only “liberal” about vice activity – sexual eccentricism, drugs, prostitution, abortion on demand etc.

Yep, I was not demerited off Kiwiblog because I used the word “fuckwit”, but because I disagreed strongly and pointedly and effectively with the blog owners (and his lap dog moderator’s) weak kneed subservience to the dogma of social liberalism. Farrah and The Davincimode (for one particularly Farrah fellating example) and his fan club are just another band of control freaks who boast that they are “liberals” when they’re in fact just the same old same old leftist authoritarians.

Brash still hasn’t learned to never make a statement (as party leader) that you aren’t willing to stand by and promote as policy. If Brash even hopes to get past 3% he better drop the Libz.
