Cameron (wants a fat tax) and Key- Birds of a Feather

It amazes me that the so called opposition to the left, namely the Conservatives in the UK and the Republicans in the US, have such a dearth of anti-left wing rhetoric and anti-left ideas.

While the internet and the blogosphere are awash with counterpoints to left wing thinking, the parties that should be representing the front against the left are apparently completely ignorant of what is being said. Even worse, they are given to utterances barely discernible from anything the left might say.

For example, Denmark, an inwardly collapsing and morally derelict socialist hole kept afloat only by huge oil revenues, recently decided to impose a tax on fatty foods. Leaving aside the impracticality of the proposal, what about the ideological background? Such collectivist thinking one would think would bring out a chorus of nanny statism style rhetoric and criticism from the Conservatives.

No way. UK Conservative Party leader David Cameron, according to the UK Telegraph, is for the idea. The man clearly has no room in his head for ideas that conflict with the ideas of socialism. His mindset is only slightly different to that of Tony Blair, who thought much the same as John Major. As John Key in NZ thinks much the same as Helen Klark, and sees the Prime Ministership only as a means to bring him fame and celebrity status.

We’re drowning in the swamp of socialism and we can’t escape because around that swamp is a Berlin wall maintained by a corrupt media and a corrupt political system and a corrupt education system. Anyone trying to break down the wall (Sarah Palin for example) is shot by the liberals and progressives who man the watchtowers.

The wall though can be brought down. Just as the might of the Soviet Union with its tanks and missiles and armies could not maintain the wall separating the East from the West, so the socialists cannot forever maintain today’s allegorical wall around dissenting thought and speech.

We will bring them down, but it will not happen as long as we continue to support quislings like Key and Cameron and their like in the US. There has to be fresh blood, right across the Western World’s political spectrum.

    Oh yes they can!

Just visit a active blog site which appeals to younger people – say the 20 – 30 year olds, and see how dominant the leftist thought (actually indoctrinated response) is. I occasionally visit a specific multi-national Rugby Union blog, although I have been doing less so lately, for rugby news. The left wing dogma is enough to make one throw up.

I think it was Denmark not Norway that has introduced the “fat tax”. It is for the peoples own good you understand. Modern Adults cannot be trusted to choose their diet for themselves and so Governments have to introduce policies to persuade them to change their ways by charging more for disapproved of food items.

Funnily enough the extra money the punters pay for their bacon and cheese although collected by the retailer is handed over to the Government who thus get more revenue to spend as they see fit.

It really is a win win – peoples lives get interfered with and poorer while the Government gets richer and has more money to spend on finding new ways to intrude into peoples lives.

Alas these policies don’t extend anybody’s actual lifespan by a nano second despite the rhetoric but they do make it seem longer by making life choices and the diets available to the peasantry incredibly dreary

    Thanks for that Andrei- fixed.

The other thing about this is where do you draw the line?

For example we could tax socialists for their overall drag on government accounts. They cost us a fortune and bring our societies into disrepair. Socialists should have to pay double tax because of the destructive outcomes of their voting patterns.

Its actually worse than you think – see Denmark is a dairying country like here and dairy products are what are being hit, among others.

Sorry mate but Governments are prizes C***s they actually want to reduce the wealth of the people who feed them. This aint about public health its about wielding power and extending it by making everybody poorer.

Yeah, and we should be hearing arguments against it from the likes of Cameron, not agreement. They’re just so hopeless.

Another example- I read today that the Australian government is going to raise the zero tax threshold. This is a similar move designed to increase the power of left wing governments. The more people who pay no tax, the more people will vote for tax increases on those who do pay tax.

Yet we hear no argument from the Liberals against this move. They’re just weak and submissive and incoherent and apparently bereft of alternative policy. They just can’t seem to be able to think of an argument, let alone articulate it.

If you’re not a taxpayer, you’re a mendicant….the aim of the Statists is to create as many self righteous mendicants as possible, where they rely on the State’s grace and favour for their daily bread they are very easily controlled.

As fewer are taxpaying citizens……more become “subjects”….. who expect to be kept by the productive……and NatLab love it.

Absolutely agree, Sinner. The problem is both the Libs and ACT are essentially leftist, statist parties who love tax & spend almost as much as the next lot. In Aus, Howard & Costello had plenty of time after they cleaned up Keating’s mess, but what did they do? A top personal income tax rate of $0.47, a GST and they bought (hook, line & sinker) the State Premiers’ lies about removing state-level taxes (primarily stamp duty). They could easily, during the decade of decadence, have introduced real tax reform based around decimating the public service, proscribing unions, removing the minimum wage and introducing a genuine flat tax, but they preferred to stick with cash-for-votes “rebate” schemes
