For those readers interested in Conservatism, this is an interesting article on Patrick J. Buchanan. The last conservative, Pat Buchanan – Washington Times. One time Republican Presidential candidate, Mr. Buchanan has a new book out called “Suicide of a Superpower: Will America Survive to 2025?” Previews of the book (on Amazon) describe it thus-
The author of six New York Times bestsellers traces the disintegration to three historic changes: America’s loss of her cradle faith, Christianity; the moral, social, and cultural collapse that have followed from that loss; and the slow death of the people who created and ruled the nation.
America was born a Western Christian republic, writes Buchanan, but is being transformed into a multiracial, multicultural, multilingual, multiethnic stew of a nation that has no successful precedent in the history of the world.
Where once we celebrated the unity, the melting pot and shared experience, that the Depression and World War gave us, our elites today proclaim, “Our diversity is our greatest strength!”—even as racial, religious, and ethnic diversity are tearing nations to pieces.
Rejecting the commitment to a God-given equality of rights for all as inadequate, our government is engaged in the manic pursuit of equality of rewards, as it seeks to erect an egalitarian utopia that has never before existed. Less and less do we Americans have in common.
More and more do we fight over religion, morality, politics, history, and heroes. And as our nation disintegrates, our government is failing in its fundamental duties, unable to defend our borders, balance our budgets, or win our wars.
Fragmentation has always been a communist strategy of course. I have alluded to this in past posts, much to the amusement of the sneering liberals who inhabit The Dim Post and other places. Funny how my post that caused the Dim Post progressives all that delight correctly predicted the OWS events that are taking place globally today.
Other passages from The Washington Times article are below. A notable quote is “we know we are in decay, but are unable to stop it”. Why can’t we stop it?
I guess because currently in our western societies the view is that the social liberals typified by the sneering self appointed elite that frequent The Dim Post or Public Address, are currently at the helm and will not give it up.
Their jaundiced view prevents them from seeing the iceberg that is so apparent to those who have not suffered the Marxist brainwashing process that has replaced what used to be an education system.
Mr. Buchanan understands that welfare liberalism is like a “narcotic,” slowly making entire classes addicted to government handouts and sapping the nation’s moral fiber. Like the ancient Romans, we know we are in decay but are unable to stop it. Our debt crisis ultimately is a crisis of democracy. Mr. Buchanan asks: With so many dependent upon social programs, can America avoid the fate of Greece?
Of course it is not just Greece, its almost every western Nation, including NZ.
For Mr. Buchanan, like most conservative traditionalists, nation-states, faith, family and community are not abstract concepts, as secular progressives claim. Rather, they are real, historic and eternal institutions necessary to a viable, just and free social order. This has been Mr. Buchanan’s central insight.
It is why he is despised by many liberals and neoconservatives. His Christian nationalism stands in stark contrast to the rootless globalism and MTV morality of our age. He staunchly opposes abortion, pornography, homosexual marriage, drugs, euthanasia and the West’s hedonism.
He understands that a nation is held together by a common culture, language, civilization, heroes, history and myths. Multiculturalism combined with open immigration is a recipe for national suicide.
This is not racial chauvinism; it is common sense and proved by history. Austria-Hungary, the Soviet Union, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia (and most likely, the European Union) all were torn apart by resurgent ethno-nationalism and centrifugal forces. Multinational empires do not last; only cohesive nations endure.
Almost enough to make the social liberals think twice, isn’t it? If they ever were to think once that is.

Yep it’s actually a commandment and if you fail to then you are labelled a racist extremist.
What is there to celebrate about the loss of sovereignty though mass illegal immigration?
And why celebrate the legal immigrants who bring hate to America and are now being constanly arrested for plotting to murder Americans?
Britain is another fine example of this mess.

This is one [of many] thing progressives will never admit; morality comes from the God of the Bible as espoused in His word. Not only that, but if society isn’t built upon the foundation of God’s word, and if those, especially, in leadership are divorced from their creator and His morality, then society is destined to corruption [in all areas] and ultimately will self-destruct.
It is no coincidence that Progressives [Liberals, Social Liberals, Cultural Marxists, Marxists, Communists, Socialists et al] are, as a rule, atheists, humanists and moral relativists. There exist no absolutes, moral or otherwise, in the Progressive world-view; everything is up for grabs. They are, ultimately, self-deluded hedonists in the truest sense, who rest power from the moral and principled, that they might usher in their Marxist utopia; one where there is no voice of opposition [all opposition having been silenced and ‘removed’], and the individual is accountable to know one but himself. Rather than worshipping their Creator they worship themselves:

It is no coincidence that we, in recent decades, have seen the rise and normalisation of homosexuality, not to mention all the other things outlined above. Short of turning back to our Creator, I see little or no hope of arresting and re-establising a moral society. Especially when those who are in leadership are some of the most corrupt and devoid of principles of all within that same society.

The State’s desire for compliance is where it starts, pretty soon the CCTV cameras are continuous and the permanent low level harassment of citizens formerly intolerant of such directions from authority is normal.

Kris, I have noticed that Farrar and Whaleoil have both been pushing the gay marriage meme in recent times . . . I wonder whether they are part of an attempt to soften up the National voting base ahead of a government initiative to introduce it . . . to get the queer vote ‘n all.

(1) Men and nations are governed by moral laws; and those laws have their origin in a wisdom that is more than human—in divine justice. At heart, political problems are moral and religious problems. The wise statesman tries to apprehend the moral law and govern his conduct accordingly. We have a moral debt to our ancestors, who bestowed upon us our civilization, and a moral obligation to the generations who will come after us. This debt is ordained of God. We have no right, therefore, to tamper impudently with human nature or with the delicate fabric of our civil social order.
(2) Variety and diversity are the characteristics of a high civilization. Uniformity and absolute equality are the death of all real vigor and freedom in existence. Conservatives resist with impartial strength the uniformity of a tyrant or an oligarchy, and the uniformity of what Tocqueville called “democratic despotism.”
(3) Justice means that every man and every woman have the right to what is their own—to the things best suited to their own nature, to the rewards of their ability and integrity, to their property and their personality. Civilized society requires that all men and women have equal rights before the law, but that equality should not extend to equality of condition: that is, society is a great partnership, in which all have equal rights—but not to equal things. The just society requires sound leadership, different rewards for different abilities, and a sense of respect and duty.
(4) Property and freedom are inseparably connected; economic leveling is not economic progress. Conservatives value property for its own sake, of course; but they value it even more because without it all men and women are at the mercy of an omnipotent government.

Yeah, wouldn’t surprise me re Farrar [& Whaleoil] pushing the whole queer agenda thing on behalf of Key.
He was pushing this line just a couple of days ago and I jumped in [against my better judgement] after Red mentioned it. And, of course, we all know Key is trying to be “all things to all men” – he sucks up to the separatist party like there’s no tommorow, so why not the queers and any other minority interest group. Everyone except National’s traditional voter base ie Conservatives who value the family, freedom and liberty.
