Deborah Hill Cone- Janet Albrechsten She Sure Ain’t

I often wonder what criteria the NZ Herald uses to choose its columnists. Given that Herald writers are in the main raving communists or confused left wing liberals, its not surprising that they employ Deborah Hill Cone, who appears to fit quite well into the second category. Even though she postures as some kind of right of center “business” commentator.

Her article today is the most confused and pointless rubbish I’ve read in a while. Apart from stating the author’s spiteful feelings about political bloggers, it says nothing. Just rambling disconnected hogwash, and for sure nothing on business.

I wonder if Deborah ever reads the Australian’s Janet Albrechsten, who makes a point of having a clear and concise message to her columns. I doubt it, given that I don’t think Janet has ever made it into New Idea or Woman’s Weekly.

No damn wonder newspapers are dying out. Who wants to pay to have their intelligence insulted by the likes of Deborah Hill Cone? And the rest of them. There’s not one Herald writer who’s within a light year of Janet.

I have seen Deborah on that media program that Russell Brown used to host, and it’s really hard to know what kind of person she is. Most people who you see talk on these programmes you can get an idea of what they are like or at least you slot them into some kind of category as to how you perceive them. She comes across as just plain weird.

    Not entirely OT….see Kiwiblog

Proof exists that NZ is in some parallel universe, where the meaning of words is “almost” correct…… where that disinformation goes uncommented upon.

The fraudulent use of the word “Superannuation”, by all NZ pollies and Farrar, to describe NZ’s old age Pension scheme is bizarre .

Australia has a Superannuation scheme, NZ has a Contributory Govt Pension scheme.

The differences in operation and outcomes are massive.

There’s a couple of minutes I’ll never get back!
What a load of inane and no-point drivel – and they actually pay her for this tripe. At least employing mindless liberals like Hill Cone will speed the death of such Marxist media outlets as the Herald.

Hmm, I think she may have struck a nerve. I read this blog because it’s usually worth it; intelligent, gutsy, and it makes points other forms of media ignore, like the excellent previous post. But I loathe the pointless racism, and sexism. Like calling President Obama a “black bastard.” I think he’s a waste of air too, but infantile name-calling is just embarrassing. Blaze away…

“Like calling President Obama a “black bastard.” ”

That is the kind of lie only a coward would write.

    Go away.

    Quick couple of points here:

    (1) she’s got Bradbury pegged. That cnut needs to move out of his mother’s garage and try fending for his fat self. Yeah, fat chance.
    (2) on what planet is Farrar “avuncular”?
    (3) did anyone read the comments associated with the article? Cone is clearly playing to her audience – all drop-outs from the special needs school!
    (4) there are 3 possible reasons for Cone to write this article at this time:
    (a) she made a comment on a blog and it was so ridiculous it got moderated out
    (b) someone said something nasty about her on a blog
    (c) she’s realised the dead tree press is, well, dying in favour of new media which provides news and niformation in a format and manner that people want. And she’s fighting some half-witted rearguard action against the new media.

No, I don’t have a date and won’t be trawling back to look for one. Perhaps I was mistaken, if so then I apologise. I am not a socialist liberal, can’t stand them, nor am I a coward. Regards.

You’re what they call in Australia a ‘straight up liar’ then,
    Willy.
Say what you like then apologise and everything”s sweet? It doesn’t work like that, except with children.

Do your kids a favour, try and distinguish between a contempt for failed 3rd world cultures (domestic and foreign) that attempt, with Statist collusion, to extract money and influence that they could not get without privilege born of appeasement…..try and distinguish that from contempt based on skin colour.

    A very poor article indeed.
She probably has a contract with the paper to produce X amount per whatever and had to write something, anything. She’s just another member of the useless NZ ‘commentariat” whose think their views are important to us. Oh dear just more rubbish.
The “commentariat” get their “ideas and opinions” from the BBC and the Guardian and simply regurgitate them to us on TV,RNZ and the opinion pages. What a waste of time.

I think you need to be careful Kris K and RB about stating that the print media is dying because it is so liberal.

That’s a big part of it, but just as big is the shift in markets/economics that digital publishing has caused. Liberals being mainly broke (except those in the prime thievery positions, see: politicians and lecturers) love the free content online – even more than conservatives. Sadly the HuffPo is growing exponentially as cheap liberals move from the Washington Post and Guardian to the interwebs…
