China construction in Spratly Islands
I’ve been watching China’s Sth Sea expansion for some time because I consider it the most likely event to trigger a serious international conflict.
China continues to behave aggressively on the issue and has upped the stakes again today with a clear threat to the US.
“The Chinese people do not want to have war, so we will be opposed to [the] U.S. if it stirs up any conflict,” said Liu Zhenmin, vice minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. “Of course, if the Korean War or Vietnam War are replayed, then we will have to defend ourselves.”
He also said-
“No country would want to see confrontations between the U.S. and China,” he said, “because the Chinese and U.S. economy will be hurt, and impacts will be felt across the world.”
Yes, especially in places like NZ, who have hitched their whole economic survival to their relationship with the Chinese Communists. If war does break out, wonder what happens to all those Chinese living in the West?
