I read on Twitter that NZ media had its annual back slapping fest last night, “The Canon Media Awards 2016”.

This is a function where the people who have worked hard to kill off the media over the last few decades vote each other prizes for imagined success.

I reckon the award for Best Opinion Writer being given to a self described “Key-jangling, overall-wearing, God-hating deviant, from hairy armpit city”, IOW the far left lesbian Rachel Stewart, is a suitable epitaph for an industry that has about ten years left at best.

Rachel (who writes for the Taranaki Daily News and the Manawatu standard) can’t produce anything that isn’t screeching far left boilerplate rhetoric. But that’s why they gave her the award, isn’t it?
