Ayaan Hirsi Ali’s pending visit to Australia and New Zealand has been cancelled. The reported reason is Ayaan is concerned for her safety.
Ms Ali was due to speak in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland from Thursday to Sunday this week. The event was organised by Think Inc., a Sydney-based organisation that attempts to provoke debate and rational discourse through conversation.
Think’s insurers were contacted and warned there could be trouble, as were venues where Ayaan Hirsi Ali was scheduled to speak.
The Australian reports-
Much of this was done by an individual called Syed Murtaza Hussain of the Council for the Prevention of Islamophobia Inc.
He informed Festival Hall in Melbourne there would be 5000 protesters outside the venue if the engagement went ahead. There have been other initiatives, including an abortive appeal on Change.org to prevent Ali from speaking.
The cancellation comes after frequent incidents where left wing thugs have been permitted by Police to physically attack anyone trying to express opinions they disagree with. For example, guests to a Q Society meeting were attacked in Melbourne recently by a crowd of over 100 left wingers. Police stood back and allowed the attacks to occur.
When Dutch MP Geert Wilders gave a speech in Melbourne in 2013, guests had their admission tickets snatched and were pushed to the ground by a similar group of violent left wing thugs. Police only reluctantly intervened.
Many other speakers including journalist Andrew Bolt, Senator Pauline Hanson and Senator Malcolm Roberts have cancelled appearances due to threats of left wing violence.
Aayan Hirsi Ali’s cancellation emphasizes that the danger of the left wing establishing a totalitarian state by means of violence, intimidation and thuggery is no illusion. Current politicians are complicit in the weakness of the Police in dealing with these neo-Bolsheviks. If you want an end to this obnoxious thuggery, put your vote elsewhere.
Was disappointed and annoyed when I got wind of this news. Ayaan’s views & opinions would be most interesting to those of us who choose to form our own opinions on the subject of Islam without left wing totalitarianism bias via mainstream media outlets.
The Q society’s website has comprehensive coverage of Islam. At least interested entities can always browse there for verifiable facts.
Freedom of expression in Australia is still a pipe dream unfortunately.
