Just a couple of examples of the subject item that have recently come to my attention. I happen to think cultural events should uphold normal standards of decency and morality. Liberals claim such concepts do not exist in a modern pluralist society. If that is true, and they do not exist, then what is any such society really worth? If one excludes common standards of morality and decency, what is it then that defines a functioning society?
A recent arts festival at the Smithsonian Institute ( a cultural center in Washington DC) took pride in having the following examples of creativity on display- images of an ant-covered Jesus, male genitalia, naked brothers kissing, men in chains, Ellen DeGeneres grabbing her breasts, a video of the bloody mouth of a man being sewn shut, a man undressing a man’s genitals, a bowl of blood and mummified humans, a painting of naked men kissing with one holding a gun to the chest of the other and a 1954 painting of an aroused naked man. (The lover of the male painter.)
The nominees to receive the most prestigious awards in the music industry, the Grammy Awards, were just announced. Among the five nominees for Record of the Year is a song titled “Fuck You”. The accompanying video features a gathering of twelve year old girls dancing to the music. The lyrics-

I guess we should all be immensely thankful for the culture, art and enlightenment that the Progressives’ liberal and pluralistic society has brought upon us. We just get more and more damn civilized and sophisticated as every day goes by, don’t we?

If these “artists” want to push the boundaries of their “atheistic expression and freedom of artistic license” why not paint a picture ot Mohammad smeared with blood and cow shit? [That was rhetorical]

Sickens me about US morality. They have no worries what so ever with violence on their social sites including kidnapping and child torture as long as nipples are obscured.
In fact if a rape victimed was pictured and her blood was obscuring her nipples that would be deemed as publicly acceptable. Notice theres been no nudity in Hollyweird for years.

Years ago Arts and Letters had a great article on the definition of art. For the life of me I can’t find it.
But to be art it had to involve skill among a number of other aspects. None of this rubbish involves skill. It’s simply counter cultural or down right negative and insulting.
So many taxpayer funded institutions lack any sense of decency,values or common sense.Some day there will be accountability but I ‘m not sure how soon that will be.
