Today’s Conservatives Suffer Because of National Party’s Past Unwillingness To Fight

An interesting email sent from one Conservative in the US to another. The situation is paralleled here in NZ, except even more so, with the National Party betraying its core principles and supporters now for many years.

“We are paying a heavy price for the systematic suppression of independent conservative political leadership that began with the presidency of George H. W. Bush and continued through the presidency of his son.

True. In NZ, with Muldoon, Bolger Shipley et all, and now the worst of all, John Key.

“The rise of the Tea Party and return of the independent conservatives to battle in 2010 has resulted in a lot of new leaders emerging on the scene. We have a good farm club for the future, but our major league team that would have been there had the Reaganites remained the dominant force in the Republican Party has been decimated, scattered, retired, or simply died off.”

True again. Conservatives in NZ as well are as scarce as rocking horse excrement.

“How do you pull together a conservative team of outsiders–similar to the one gathered together by Ronald Reagan and brought to Washington to take on the political elites–quickly? I don’t mean to be blunt, but I don’t think the current crop of candidates have even thought through this problem or realize the kind of principled, outside talent it will take to address the mess a new administration will inherit.

Here we have Brash’s intentions, and again, an even more difficult task in New Zealand than the USA.

“I fear that the Bush retreads and the inside-the-beltway group that ostensibly is ‘on our side’ will simply replace the Obamaites, instead of the wholesale personnel changes we need throughout the executive branch of government.”

A perfect description of the National Party of today, who have given up so much territory, they are practically indistinguishable from Labour.

RB, I have given up waiting of our leaders to fight. I’m putting my money where my mouth is. I’m offering up $200 bucks of my own money to entice conservatives to mock the Republican candidate debate Thursday night in South Carolina.

Anybody can watch with a bunch of others and win some beer money for the group.

And in the process, show the GOP stiffs how to fight back with hard and funny answers. The best would be to take a media whore’s question and turn it on him. If this one is like past ones, there’ll be plenty of opportunity.

Anybody, or a group of anybodies, can pool some money to inspire their level of society (the ruled) to mock their rulers and show them what backbone is supposed to look like in the face of those media morons. You could do it down there too. Sponsor contests that mock your seemingly cowardly (but probably duplicitous) candidates.

I’m not saying it’s necessary to heap contumely on them, but it’s fine to embarrass them by making it necessary to show them the way. (Oh, for the news people who ask the questions — I don’t think there’s enough contumely for them. That’s because they’d not know they’d been hit by it if you did. Too many syllables in that word.)
