National Should Have Cancelled ETS- Review A Pathetic Left Wing Whitewash

What’s happened in the world since Nick Smith and John Key, after years in opposition attacking the global warming scam, forced NZ to adopt an emissions trading scheme (ETS) once they became the government?

  • The global warming scam they opposed back in 2005 has been brought into even further disrepute. Kyoto has collapsed and UN sponsored talk fests have wound up in utter disarray.
  • The Global Financial Crisis has come upon us and is worsening day by day. The globe today totters on the edge of a financial abyss.
  • New Zealand has been hit by a massive earthquake that will cost billions to recover from.
  • Businesses are struggling and the last thing they need is more costs, especially those associated with Nick Smith’s pie in the sky delusions.
  • The government is recklessly borrowing hundreds of millions of dollars every week to keep itself running.

Right now we need the ETS like they need electric heaters in hell. Never have there been a better selection of reasons for dropping this nonsense.

National have kept it, and are proposing to merely tinker with it, and they only do this because as commenter Andrei says so accurately elsewhere, they are “a pack of left wing drongos”. Left wing drongos pulling our country down as left wing drongos are doing to countries all across the western world.

Its long past time Key and Smith and other pretenders were booted the hell out of National and that the party stood by its founding principles. Weak cowardly traitors is all they are today.

  1. As the ETS scam has been in place for a while, surely, some results of this policy should be available now? Namely, by how much have ’emissions’ been reduced, and by how much has the climate been affected as a result of these policies?

  2. bla – One only has to look at the costs at the supermarket to see how the ETS has impacted on us.

There can be no doubt the the financial trouble that Europe, America and New Zealand find themselves in is soley due politicians and their mismanagement of just about everything…and we, as always, have to pay it.

Greece is due to pay off its next lot of debt…and is probably going to default. Merkel and Sarkozy are determined to save Greece, as failure to do so will be the end of the Euro zone. It seems as if they are looking for $1 trillion from the US taxpayer.

From Richard Fernandez at Pajamas Media in “Fear is Coursing through the Corridors of Brussels”

It is a fear,…..which has been there for some time, like a nightmare lurking in the background, like the dim awareness that the bill from the credit card company is in the mail. And now the envelope has arrived, bearing the shiny bright logo of the finance company. And it’s all they can do to slit the envelope open and turn the page quiveringly to the page which says “amount due.”

  3. A limp and predictable consequence from a philosophically lost political “party”, trying to have a bob each way.
National just makes me nausious. A bankrupted, spiritually dead, confused, poorly led lot that try to appeal to every sick faction. What does it say about New Zealanders when national polls so well? Can you think of any organisation that has done so much to speed the sovietisation of NZ , than national?

To be arguing about the details of an ETS …..for the ultimate mega benefit of the Money Centre banks….genre Goldman Sachs…..you must believe that Anthropogenic Global Worming is NOT a Bright Shining neo-Marxist Lie.

Poor “never had a f*ck” Farrar writes like ETS is a breathless anti whaling type concept…….not merely the political dribblings of the Socialist International Central Planners over at the National Party collective.

  6. KG…..I thought “never had a f*ck” Farrar was a far more informative a concept.
My intuition, as always, is breathtakingly accurate.

    I’m modest, too.

  8. Ah yes, I can definitely see that one taking off. I think whenever I refer to the owner and author of New Zealand’s Premier Right Wing Blog, I shall refer to him as NeverHadA Farrar. No end of chuckles available. Thank you, Sika.

  9. Well said Redbaiter and as I say at my place the World has moved on since Kyoto, etc.
We have seen the climate not changing as it was supposed to.
Economically, we can no longer afford touchy-feely greenery.
Now we see the cost of eco-fascist carbon-reduction policies on our food and fuel bills.
I have also noted that the burden of such costs on our weak economies and constrained household budgets could create what we should call ‘eco-recessions’.
As evidence changes, we should move on.
That includes National, who would be rewarded for it by the voters.

  10. The trouble is, Natioal don’t need to be rewarded by voters, if the polls are correct. Frigging Key is just adored by the mainstream media and the public alike, and boy, does he drool with happiness because of it. He does whatever makes him more popular, rather than anything t odo with such an ancient thought as National’s founding principles. Sadly, for us, getting poorer and poorer as food prices continue to soear. (but when you’ve got a fortune stashed away…).
E M Forster would have loathed Key, read Howards End, it’s all in that great book, the desperate ideals of socialism, and then the wreckage.

That’s basically because he’s just a better looking and more personable Helen Klark. Key conned a part of the voting public into thinking he would be different, and then betrayed them once elected.

  12. I’m wondering why polling isn’t picking up the large degree of disillusionment about Key that we see all over the web. Is it because the Key dislike is placed in the same basket as those who think the whole thing is a farce anyway, and just want to get rid of the “permanent political class”, and therefore provide a negative response that is invalidated by the pollsters?

  13. Dunno, RB. My first reaction was that surely the polls must be suspect–and some of them are. But that doesn’t explain it.
I’m left wondering if Kiwis haven’t been trained to value “stability” above all things. That, and we tend to get a false idea of the national (excuse the pun) mood because we tend to look for and listen to views from real conservatives and discount the lunatic socialist swine as nutters.
They may be nutters, but they also may well be the overwhelming majority.
    Scary thought…..

  14. I’ll say it again…the polls look great for Key because New Zealand is a one-party state. And because none of the polls offer “None of the above lying charlatans” as an option. People who are polled are only asked which of them they would vote for, not would they like an option that doesn’t make them throw up a little every time they think about it.

The equation is exactly the same as the “gee isn’t the Aussie dollar going great at the moment”. Well no actually the US is going shit so on that basis it looks good. Measured against say gold for example it doesn’t look so xlcrash hot.

People make the mistake of comparing Key to Goff. What they should be doing is comparing him to Holland (or FFS even bloody Lange Bolger or Shipley).

  15. I suggest that the reason why the polls are so laudatory for Key is there is a perception that “he’ll change to his true self, in a second term.” What this expectation is based on seems to be a loose belief that somehow Key’s true self is to be found in his track record of money management. What his true self is, is not identifiable by his record since 2008. The governance of NZ seems to be based on facing the audience rather than addressing the engine-room.

  16. Actually Cad those who say Quisling Key will reveal his true nature in a second term (you there, Adolf?) ignore the simple fact that his entire working life before entering Parliament was predicated on making deals. And that is unarguably what has characterized his first term. I wouldn’t be holding my breath for some reality TV style “big reveal” come term 2, because I firmly believe we have seen the “real” John boy un term 1: someone who will make a deal with anyone, up to and including supping with the devil himself, to make a deal. He is a craven, hollow politician (excuse the tautology) without an ideological base from which to operate, and if Labour were not such a total basket case, had they rolled Goff when they had the chance, National would be forced to look inside themselves and decide what kind of party they really want to be; one that faithfully carries the traditions upon which the party was founded, or a pale imitation ofnthe Clark Labour party.
