“Unelectable” Sarah Palin now polling only 5 points behind Obama

This news will break a few hearts, gladden others and make the naysayers think twice.

A new McClatchy-Marist poll finds that Obama looks increasingly vulnerable in next year’s election, with a majority of voters believing he’ll lose to any Republican, a solid plurality saying they’ll definitely vote against him and most potential Republican challengers gaining on him.

The biggest gain came for Palin, the former Alaska governor who hasn’t yet announced whether she’ll jump into the fast-changing race for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.

After trailing Obama by more than 20 percentage points in polls all year, the new national survey, taken Sept. 13-14, found Palin trailing the president by just 5 points, 49-44 percent.

Heres’ some advice for those who say it cannot be done- Politics is in a constant state of flux. What might seem possible one day is highly improbable the next, and vice versa. Myself, I believe that most things are a matter of will, and that is a concept seldom seen in these times. If you have the will, as I believe Sarah Palin might have, you can make almost anything happen.

  1. If only…..
Be careful with 1042 poorly selected participants.

First bit of BS…..indicating obviously flawed demographic weighting by pollster.
“Giuliani would do the best against the president, leading Obama by 49 percent to 42 percent. He trailed by 5 points in an August poll, and by 7 in June.”

And I’ve got a pig who flies backwards down the AKL 23L ILS.

    And ominously….
“While most of the Republicans have gained on Obama, he still leads all of the announced candidates.”

Of course, If it ever gets to the “anyone but Oby” stage then Sarah can win.

If Sarah was an atheist she’d still be “god’s” candidate……the only one not part of the professional political class machine. Uncle Doofus doesn’t count.

  2. Watch for the Republican establishment mounting an operation to kneecap Palin–they’re as frightened of her as the DNC is.
I stand by what I said over a year ago–if Palin by some miracle should secure the nomination, she will wipe the floor with Obama. The American people are in the mood for a Washington game-changer and Palin offers them the best chance to feel good about America again.

  3. Correct KG……the Republican Establishment fears Palin more than MSNBC fears Palin.

I’ll say it……would rather lose close with Palin than win with the the NY Times comrade’s choice Romney.
The same people that gave you McCain.

No pessimism here….just reality….another 4 years of Oby and the 2nd American Revolution has to be on near standby.

  4. Sika, my fear is that she’ll be persuaded not to run in order to avoid splitting the Republican vote. If Romney is the price of unity, it’s just too damn expensive.

  5. Sarah, with luck, will not do a Ross Perot.
Splitting a winning vote means spite is the motivation.
She can’t win as an Independent.
    She has to announce….but late.

Romney is just another one of them…..a RepDem…..aka….a NatLab.

The artificially carefully greyed sideburns are windows to the soul.
