Warning To DOC Staff- Extinction of Enterprise Means No Cash For Public Servants

More than 100 scientists have sent a letter of warning to the Conservation Minister and director general of DOC, over staff cuts.

Shame DOC staff have not heard the warnings issued to them over the past as they have locked up thousands of acres of productive land and sea in “conservation parks” or stood in the way of private wealth producing projects that might have generated the capital required to fund their department.

Making wealth producers an extinct species is not the best course of action to take if you want funding for projects designed to save animals from extinction.

Leaving aside that species extinction is a part of nature’s plan anyway, and an event that has occurred ever since life first existed. Trying to freeze nature in a particular spectrum of time is a futile and un-natural ambition.

I’d close down the whole department, an arrogant group that IMHO have acted all to often as if they were a law unto themselves.

Too right. This bunch of clipboard-wielding sandal wearers for years have shut up large areas of NZ and then treated those areas as their own private fiefdoms.
One place up in the Far North, they have a hut in a reserve in one of the most beautiful areas of NZ and this hut is for their use only. So we used to see them turn up with a very expensive boat (courtesy the taxpayer) loaded with them and their friends and head out to the hut for a few days R&R.
I never did get a response from them when I asked how come them being there didn’t damage the environment, but ordinary Kiwis couldn’t use it because they might.
Nice “work” if you can get it.

Hell yeah! Close the department (again with safeguards so the bludgers & families can’t just get back on the taxpayers tit via benefits); sell of the fucking land — for USD only! – roast Kereru’s back on the menu, boys!

Endangered species aren’t doing so well under DOC management either, remember those snails that some DOC staffer froze to death? Maybe if the private sector managed the endangered snails they could set up a breeding programme and export snails to France. (And, dare I say it, make some money.)
