From a John Key press release today-
The Prime Minister’s Science Prizes, which combine recognition and prize money of $1 million, have been presented in Auckland today.
The top prize, worth $500,000, has been awarded to a team of scientists from NIWA (National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research) and the University of Otago for research that is helping to guide international decisions on mitigating climate change.
This guy gets $200,000
The Prime Minister’s 2011 MacDiarmid Emerging Scientist Prize goes to Victoria University of Wellington scientist, Dr Rob McKay, a world-leading glacial sedimentologist based at Victoria’s Antarctic Research Centre. Dr McKay uses marine sedimentary records and glacial deposits to reconstruct episodes of melting and cooling in Antarctica over the past 13 million years and show how they influenced global sea levels and climate.
Is this just a reward for doing the propaganda well, or is that too harsh a comment?
Funny how the skeptic’s science can’t be relied upon because its funded by the private sector. Yet we’re expected to believe everything that comes out of the mouths of government scientists whose economic position would be extremely precarious if not for government funding.
And how can Key have the gall to today hand out prizes to recipients presumably chosen by him, and making a living and a career from climate change scare mongering, when he is on record as saying that climate change was a hoax?
Why these poseurs and charlatans in our parliament are not held in much greater contempt by the public is far beyond me.
Hat tip reader Angus.

I want to know what Key’s “Science Advisor” has to say about Climategate 2.0. Been very, very quiet, hasn’t he?

It may be worth commenting in the Daily Pravda. Good article by Jim Hopkins.

Good grief! The indoctribots are out in force in comments, aren’t they? Or is this the new normal in what passes for thinking in NZ?

Thanks Chuck, I’ve written a post on that and will put it up later.

Yech! I made the mistake of reading the comments, and now I need a shower! Rising seas, baking suns, deserts, drowning rains. Sounds like every Wednesday in Melbourne. Farkhing numpties.

Thanks for the heads up, Chuck.
I left the following comment in Jim Hopkin’s article [hasn’t appeared yet]:

I just noticed my comment above was finally published in Jim Hopkin’s Herald article which Chuck linked to. WELL PART OF IT.
All they published was:
They ignored the rest about Climategate 1 & 2 and the exposing of the corruption behind AGW. And of course my linking of the Key government with this scam, and my contrasting Key’s pre-election [2008] stance with his full-on support now following that same election.
They didn’t even acknowledge they had edited [shortened] my comment. What corrupt Marxist manipulation is this?! Absolutely disgusting.

PS I take that back. I had submitted the comment twice in case the first one hadn’t gone through. They did shorten one comment as I just described, but the other one went through in its full glory. Hallelujah – you are forgiven Herald. I still think you’re a Marxist rag though.
